Talk about spectacular! Pollina is just breathtaking! Perched at the top of a very narrow mountain peak just above the sea, Pollina is a natural work of art. The town seems to evolve out of the stone cliffs. Wind your way up and around through narrow passageways and discover a photo worthy scene at every turn. And the cherry on the top is an open amphitheater and castle, with 360* views of the sea and surrounding mountains. Don’t forget to stop at one of the local bars where they serve Manna beer, from the manna trees in the valley nearby. A true feast for the senses, Pollina will take your breath away!

Siracusa/Ortigia, SR.
A gorgeous ancient city on the east coast of Sicily. Siracusa dates back to 700BC and was a major port city in the Mediterranean. Even the Apostle Paul spent three days here on his journey to Rome.
Today, it bears reminders of the many past cultures who occupied this area, including Greek, Roman, Byzantine and Arab rule. Through its narrow winding streets to the grand Piazza del Duomo and castle beyond, evidence of its great wealth and history surround you. The Catherdral was built into the ancient temple of Athena, still revealing its Doric columns and grandeur. You won’t want to miss the Neapolis Archaeological Park and Roman Theatre, the Temple of Apollo, stunning views of the coast and even the charming Mercato di Ortigia.
With so much to see and experience, you will want to plan on staying for at least a couple of days

Erice, TP- one of the most spectacular cities in Sicily. Perched high up on a mountain top, overlooking the sea, is Erice. Every picture is a work of art! Erice has a castle clinging to the side of a cliff, charming cobblestone streets and wonderful restaurants. Do yourself a favor and make your way to Erice, you won’t be disappointed!

Isnello, PA. We found Isnello soooo captivating! Tucked up in the Madonie Mountains, it clings on the side of a large gorge which makes for stunning vistas in all directions. At the top of the city lies the Byzantine castle and 360* views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Isnello is a beautiful 1 hour drive from Casa Madonna. A must see

The Palermo Botanical Garden is the oldest botanical garden in Europe and was designed by French architect Leon Dufourny in 1789. It started as one of the most important botanical centers in Europe where scientists came from all over the world to study its exotic plants. It boasts 12,000 plant species, the largest ficus tree in Europe plus a large seed library. If you’re a plant lover, this park is for you! Plan your trip in the spring, fall or early mornings during the summer and spending 1-2 hours at the park. The Botanic Garden is only 40 minutes from Casa Madonna

Terrasini, PA. Happy Sunday from the gorgeous city of Terrasini. Just west of Palermo with breathtaking views of the sea and surrounding mountains. The city has turned the seafront area into a lovely boardwalk, with charming restaurants and a grand natural history museum. Enjoy a stroll, aperitivo and the gorgeous blu sea.

Petralia Soprana, PA. Tucked up on a peak in the Madonie Mountains, spectacular Petralia Soprana is a must see. You will find breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys and Mount Etna in the distance. There is a charming surprise around every corner! Stroll past the beautiful Chiesa di Santa Maria di Loreto to a path that creates one of the most stunning images in Sicily (first picture). We found an amazing family run restaurant, Trattoria di Salvatore, which capped off a wonderful day! Enjoy

Santa Flavia, PA- another gem! We drive past the town of Santa Flavia often and while most people head to the beaches nearby, we love to explore the cities, to find amazing architecture and hidden gems. Santa Flavia is a beautiful old town where you will find gorgeous palazzo’s, tranquil parks and unique homes around every corner. Places of interest are Villa Filangeri (Cumune-City Hall), Basilica Soluntina Sant’Anna, Castello San Marco and Villa Valdina.
