The little Baita's name is “Giardino dei Marinai”; located in Valli di Lanzo, wild valley near Turin town (50km). The name may sound a little unusual if you think we are in the mountains but my husband and me we travelled for work reasons through the oceans exploring the world by sailing boat. When we decided to stop traveling, we arrived here in Monti (hamlet in Mezzenile), at an altitude of 1200

meters, immersed in the wild nature. We found a shelter at the top of a mountain, in a dominant position, sun exposed even during winter mouths, here far away from the city frenzy but with all the comforts needed. Here, in the respect of mountains and nature powers, we host travelers, sport people and tourists. Our house was built in the XIX century by one of those traditional men of mountains dressed in square shirt and showing big mustaches. He used local wood and dry stone to build this house that is composed of three floors (with boards cricking floorings) connected by some winding liberty styled iron staircases. Bedrooms are small and intimate, as used here in lodges, full of many windows facing the valley and woods and so allowing the guest to contemplate the surrounding mountains. Warm and welcoming, the rooms are equipped with antique furniture and all the spaces are managed to create original solutions and a special design that comes from our experience on boat and in shipyards. We took inspiration also from other cultures and countries. At the ground floor a stove heats the dining room. You will be pleased to have a healthy breakfast all gathered around the walnut table and looking at the pastures. We propose also an independent stony lodge, which was an old spike forge, built in the traditional style from West Alps. Renovated in a simple way, despite small dimensions, it is provided with all comforts and it’s decorated like the interior of a boat. The kitchen corner, equipped with electrical appliances and sink, leans on the old stone bench used by the spike blacksmiths; the heating is independent and comes from a romantic stove.
