Casa delle Rondini, or House of the Swallows, is a vacation rental property in Calitri, Italy. Overlooking beautiful mountains and valleys, this little town is well known for its history, its unique stacked architecture, and for its quirky collection of locals. Walk a few streets up and you'll find a quaint restaurant that will make for you rich local delicacies, or wander through the center of to

wn, grabbing a quick chat and an espresso from Mario's Cafe. With local gelaterias, bakeries, shops, and bus station with service to locations as close as the beach, and as far as Rome, you will discover something wonderful around each corner. This house is a great home base, from which you can reach great tourist sites within two hours. Local must see areas include: the gorgeous Amalfi Coast, Historic Pompeii, the great ruins at Paestum, lively Naples, the sandy beaches of Puglia, the rocky Gargano Coast, as well as the Royal Palace of Caserta, and the oldest human settlement in Europe, Matera. Our house is fully furnished, very tidy, and indicative of the local culture, with breathtaking views and a fully-stocked kitchen with appliances for baking and making foods to share with neighbors and friends. The home can sleep four comfortably, with an extra pull out bed for another. This two-story house is in a nice location, from which you can walk everywhere along cobbled streets. Calitri è uno dei più bei paesi dell’Alta Irpinia.
Poggiato su un ripido colle della valle dell’Ofanto, il paese si sviluppa secondo un intrecciarsi di viottoli e scalette in salita davvero suggestivo. Nella parte più alta del centro si può passeggiare tra le vie di quello che era l’antico Borgo Castello. Una serie di terrazze panoramiche offrono una magnifica veduta sulla valle dell’Ofanto e sulle montagne della vicina Basilicata.
Il paesaggio più celebre di Calitri è quello che si ammira dalla frazione di Santa Lucia, ai piedi del colle.
Guardando il paese dal basso, infatti, ci si rende conto di come le abitazioni si arrampichino le une sulle altre, ricoprendo completamente con i loro intonaci colorati la superficie della collina. Si tratta di una veduta da cartolina tra le più belle che si possano ammirare in Irpinia.
Da visitare oltre ai tanti Palazzi e Portali del cento storico, Il Museo della Ceramica nei locali del Borgo Castello e le tante suggestive chiese tra le quali : la Chiesa del Patrono San Canio , la Chiesa dell' Annunziata ,la chiesa dell'Immacolata Concezione, la Chiesa di S. Antonio Abate e quella di Sant’Antonio di Padova.
