A smile.
Shoulders relax.
The conversation carries on a little longer.

The food matters.

Before we had a heating system at Villa Amore, the fireplace kept the house warm.

Feeding the fire became part of our daily rhythm.
One more log.
Then another.

Until one winter morning, for reasons I still can’t explain, I paused before placing one on the fire.

There, in the grain of the wood, was a heart.

It hadn’t appeared that day. I know that.
It had always been there.

I had simply never noticed it.

That little piece of firewood never made it into the flames.

Instead, we kept it.

Perhaps to remind us of something Villa Amore has been teaching us all along:

To slow down.
To look again.
To notice what has been there all along.

Because some of life’s most beautiful moments are not waiting to be created.

Only to be noticed.

Via dell’Amore…

Every time I walk this path, I feel the past a little closer.

The old trees.
The statues.
The worlds that came before us.

There is something strangely calming here, and at the same time, something that gives me energy.

The more I walk it, the more connected I feel to this place.

As though I am not discovering Villa Amore anymore.

I am coming home.
