Among its most precious treasures is the extraordinary 16th-century fresco by Giovanni Battista Ghirlanda, restored in its original sections and now once again visible in all its magnificence. Having lunch in the grand hall that hosts it, reading a book, or simply pausing to admire it becomes a suspended, almost contemplative experience. A small moment of ecstasy, between art and silence.

Convento La Perla non è una casa vacanze come le altre: è un luogo ricco di storia, arte e bellezza, rimasto per anni in stato di abbandono e oggi riportato a nuova vita grazie a un attento lavoro di recupero, che lo ha trasformato in un luogo magico di ineguagliabile bellezza.

Tra i suoi tesori più preziosi c’è lo straordinario affresco del Cinquecento firmato da Giovanni Battista Ghirlanda, restaurato nelle sue parti originali e oggi nuovamente visibile in tutta la sua magnificenza. Pranzare nella grande sala che lo ospita, leggere un libro o semplicemente soffermarsi ad ammirarlo diventa un’esperienza sospesa, quasi contemplativa. The magnificent Malaspina Castle of Massa and Convento La Perla are not only close to one another: they also share a deep connection with the history of this land.
The Convent, a place rich in memory and today a refined holiday home, already appears in historical records in the 15th century, when within its walls the men of Carrara swore allegiance to the Cybo Malaspina family, rulers of these territories at the time.

The Malaspina Castle, a medieval fortress and principal residence of the dynasty, still dominates the city of Massa today from its spectacular position. In this photograph, seen from behind from the hills above the town, it almost seems to rise toward the endless sea.
