Stagione.
Al Maso le stagioni non si raccontano: si servono. E a ottobre, la zucca ha già trovato il suo posto: dentro la pasta fresca, nei nostri tortelli di zucca su crema di cavolfiore.
Vieni a provarli.

Abbazia di Piona.
A poca distanza dal Maso c’è uno di quei posti che fanno rallentare quasi senza accorgersene.
L’Abbazia di Piona si affaccia sul lago in una posizione che già da sola vale la visita. Poi ci sono il chiostro, la pietra, i piccoli dettagli da osservare con calma e quel silenzio che rende tutto ancora più particolare.
È uno di quei posti in cui non serve avere un programma preciso: si entra, si curiosa, si cammina un po’ e ci si lascia sorprendere dagli scorci che si aprono tra un passaggio e l’altro.
Se passate da queste parti, vale davvero la deviazione. E magari anche qualche minuto in più del previsto.

Abbazia di Piona.
Not far from the Maso there is one of those places that makes you slow down almost without realizing it.
Piona Abbey overlooks the lake from a vantage point that alone is worth the visit. Then there’s the cloister, the stonework, the small details to be observed at your leisure, and that silence that makes everything even more special.
It’s one of those places where you don’t need a specific plan: you walk in, explore, take a stroll, and let yourself be surprised by the views that open up as you move from one area to the next.
If you’re passing through this area, it’s definitely worth the detour. And maybe even a few extra minutes beyond what you planned.

Dolce far nulla.
Che poi, con una vista così, non è proprio “far nulla”. È guardare fuori, perdere un po’ la cognizione del tempo e decidere che per oggi può bastare così.

Castello di Vezio.
Abbastanza vicino al Maso da diventare una perfetta deviazione di giornata. Abbastanza sorprendente da sembrare altrove.
Un castello millenario sopra Varenna, una torre da cui il lago si apre in ogni direzione e misteriosi fantasmi bianchi che abitano i giardini.
Consiglio dello Zambo: salire fino alla torre, senza ignorare chi si incontra lungo il cammino. Non tutti gli abitanti del castello sono in carne e ossa.

Vezio Castle.
Close enough to the Maso to make for a perfect day trip. Surprising enough to feel like you’re somewhere else entirely.
A thousand-year-old castle overlooking Varenna, a tower from which the lake stretches out in every direction, and mysterious white ghosts that haunt the gardens.
Zambo’s Tip: Climb up to the tower, but don’t ignore anyone you meet along the way. Not all the castle’s inhabitants are made of flesh and blood.
