Less than 10 minutes by car from Villa Etesiae, along the coast of Castellammare del Golfo, are the majestic Faraglioni di Scopello, which rise from the turquoise sea like ancient sentinels. Next to them stands the Tonnara di Scopello, one of the oldest in Sicily, documented since 1272. ๐
Flourished between the 15th and 18th centuries, the tonnara was for a long time a vital center of tuna fishing, practiced with the traditional mattanze system. The nets were lowered for the last time in 1984, but even today the ancient complex retains its charm intact: original boats, anchors, nets and tools tell the story of the life of the tuna fishermen and a timeless maritime ritual. ๐ฃ

Fiorita tra il XV e il XVIII secolo, la tonnara fu a lungo centro vitale della pesca del tonno, praticata con il tradizionale sistema delle mattanze. Le reti furono calate per lโultima volta nel 1984, ma ancora oggi lโantico complesso conserva intatto il suo fascino: barche originali, ancore, reti e strumenti raccontano la vita dei tonnaroti e un rituale marinaro senza tempo. ๐ฃ
