🌋 ETNA UPDATE - 17 AUGUST

🌋 Mount Etna’s activity has increased again. Voragine is currently emitting ash, and a new lava flow has appeared in Valle del Bove.

✈️ Catania Airport is operating with restrictions.

🚫 The authorities have closed all roads leading to trails and viewpoints overlooking the lava. As a result, we are not running evening lava-viewing hikes. The summit area also remains closed.

✅ All other tours are operating as planned, without issues.

⏱️ The situation is changing hour by hour. We will contact guests directly by email if their booking is affected.

Today, we got as close as safely possible to explore Etna and admire this incredible natural spectacle.

Mount Etna eruption | July 5–6, 2026 🌋

Last night’s eruption with Igor Mitoraj’s Theseus in the foreground. A unique view of Mount Etna after sunset. The lava fountains were relatively small, but after dark they were clearly visible from many areas around the volcano.

This morning, July 6, Etna is still emitting volcanic ash. The volcanic tremor has decreased, but the eruption is not over yet.

Our Etna excursions are running as scheduled, but it is not possible to reach the summit at the moment.
