🌸 A little saffron, a long lunch, a weekend in Umbria.

Zafferiamo is coming to Città della Pieve, celebrating the saffron grown here for centuries—and giving you a very good excuse to spend an autumn weekend with us at Grove Cottage Umbria.

Wander the red-brick lanes, discover the local flavours and settle in for a leisurely lunch. Afterwards, stroll back to the cottage, put your feet up by the wood-burning fire and open that bottle you bought “to take home”. We won’t tell.

Just a short walk from the historic centre, our cottage sleeps up to four, with a private garden, views over the olive groves and the whole house to yourselves.

🇮🇹 Working remotely? Make yourself at home in Italy this autumn or winter.

If you’re coming to Italy on a digital nomad visa or looking for somewhere to settle in for a month, Grove Cottage in Città della Pieve, Umbria, offers excellent Wi-Fi, a dedicated workspace and the peace to get things done—with a lively Italian town within walking distance.

Our guest Michael stayed for four weeks in October:

“We spent 4 weeks there in October and our hosts, Leo and Raymond, couldn’t have been more welcoming or considerate.”

His description gets to the heart of what we want our guests to experience:

“The house is beautifully decorated, very comfortable and quiet. It feels like a home without feeling like you’re in someone else’s house.”

You’ll have the entire cottage and private garden to yourselves, with two bedrooms, a fully equipped kitchen and views across the olive groves. Cafés, restaurants, supermarkets and independent shops are close at hand. Walk into town for coffee, pick up something for dinner and get back to work without making every errand an expedition.

We’ve welcomed guests writing books, finishing dissertations and running their freelance businesses. As a writer myself, I understand the value of somewhere you can concentrate, unpack properly and find your own rhythm.

🍂🔥 Autumn and winter are perfect for settling in. There’s a wood-burning fireplace for cosy evenings indoors and an outdoor fire pit available for nights beneath the stars. A glass of local red is an excellent way to mark the end of office hours.

And there’s life beyond the garden. As Michael put it:

“Pieve is an easy 10 min walk away and even in October there was lots going on but it doesn’t feel touristy at all.”

Raymond and I are happy to share our favourite places to eat, explore and enjoy across Umbria and neighbouring Tuscany.

Città della Pieve is in full bloom today! 🌸✨The historic center of our beautiful Umbrian town was officially transformed into a breathtaking, open-air art gallery for the spectacular 61st edition of the Infiorata di San Luigi Gonzaga!This last , the streets of the Terziere Casalino are paved with intricate, vibrant carpets made entirely from fresh flower petals, leaves, and natural seeds.

It was a true pleasure hosting guests from all corners of this amazing world. We’re grateful for every visit, every story shared, and every bottle opened under the Umbrian sky.
