📢 We are pleased to announce the publication of our latest regional basin study: “Structural Settings, Stratigraphic Framework and Hydrocarbon Play Components of the Pelagian & Sirte Region”.
🌍 Covering the geological domain from offshore Sicily and the Malta–Sicily Channel to offshore Tunisia, Libya, the onshore Sirte Basin, and Cyrenaica, the study provides an integrated regional framework spanning both mature, prolific producing basins and underexplored frontier plays across one of the most structurally complex areas of the Central Mediterranean.
📚 The study comprises 3 dedicated volumes, for a total of:
- 517 pages
- 373 figures
- 144 wells available in digital format
- 9 Gross Depositional Environment (GDE) maps
- GIS-ready datasets, regional maps, stratigraphic panels, well correlations, reservoir and source-rock distribution maps, and petroleum-system summary tables
🧭 Volume 1 – Tectonic Evolution & Present-Day Structural Setting 133 pages and 101 figures focused on tectonic domains, structural evolution, present-day tectono-stratigraphic configuration, gravity, magnetics, heat flow, seismicity, and regional stress fields.
🗺️ Volume 2 – Stratigraphic Framework 225 pages and 135 figures covering the Lower Cretaceous to post-Messinian succession through 11 regional stratigraphic sequences, integrating stratigraphic charts and selected GDE maps across the Pelagian, Sabratah, Sirte, and Cyrenaica domains.
🛢️ Volume 3 – Hydrocarbon Prospectivity 159 pages and 137 figures dedicated to reservoirs, source rocks, oil types and provenance, migration pathways, seals, trap styles, petroleum-system evolution, hydrocarbon complexes, and regional play fairways.
🔎 By integrating structural evolution, depositional systems, and petroleum-system elements - from previously unmapped structural trends and a revised source-rock maturity picture to newly resolved play concepts - the study provides a consistent regional framework to support exploration screening, play-based evaluation, and future exploration strategies across the Pelagian-Sirte basin system.
