February in Florence is full of events, culture and great food.
On February 1, the first Sunday of the month, many Florentine museums offer free admission, including the Uffizi Gallery and the Accademia Gallery, home of Michelangelo’s David.
The same day, the city hosts the Carnival Parade, with a festive procession through the streets. Adults and children can wear costumes, enjoy music and celebration, and compete for the prize for the best
mask. The parade starts at 3:00 PM.
From February 7 to 9, Taste takes place at Fortezza da Basso, one of Italy’s leading food and wine fairs, featuring over 700 Italian producers.
On February 17, Florence celebrates the winter match of Calcio Storico Fiorentino, commemorating the 1530 siege of the city.
From February 27 to March 1, TESTO, the contemporary publishing fair, with publishers, authors and cultural events.
On February 19, Chianti Lovers & Rosso Morellino presents more than 200 wine labels for tasting (trade event).
From February 27 to March 1, TourismA, dedicated to archaeology and cultural tourism, takes place at Palazzo dei Congressi. Free entrance.
From February 20 to 22, Danza in Fiera returns to Fortezza da Basso, with performances, workshops and professional training.
Throughout the month, Florence also hosts local markets in Piazza del Carmine (8), Piazza Santo Spirito (15) and at the Limonaia of Villa Strozzi (22).
