The boats that helped build Florence.

These traditional flat-bottomed boats, known as barchetti, once belonged to the renaioli, who collected sand and gravel from the Arno to help build the city. Today, a few still make their way along the river. Hop aboard and you’ll see a side of Florence you simply can’t see from the streets.
