Originally a 15th century “palazzo”, the Hotel Bernini is built according to the classic Florentine architectural style, with string-course cornices along the walls and wooden shutters giving it a charming antique flavor. extremely valuable pendulum clocks. These newly designed areas now boast a unique combination of the classic original Italian décor with an added inspiration from Morocco and other parts of Northern Africa. This fusion is a historical nod to the Northern African spice merchants that inhabited the city and surrounding areas in Tuscany during the Renaissance period. The oldest news about the Hotel goes back to 15th century when the building belonged to the old family “Pera”, presumed ancestor of the family Peruzzi, the most powerful Florentine financiers with enormous interests in Europe. Toward the middle of the last century, this building, infused with a magical Medici atmosphere, housed the plush "Albergo dello Scudo”. Between 1865 and 1870 it was also the seat of the Parliament of the young Kingdom of Italy, which Florence was capital of. After this prestigious interlude, the name of the hotel was changed
several times, once even housing the famous Doney restaurant. The hotel has been patronized by a number of performing arts celebrities.
