Antica Torre di Via de' Tornabuoni 1 in Florence is a stunning Historical Residence, centrally located in the birthplace of the Italian Renaissance. The Residence is a Medieval Tower dating from the thirteenth century in elegant Via Tornabuoni, synonymous with the most prestigious brands of Florence. In the heart of Florence, in a prestigious 13th century building, you will find the two exclusive

"Residenze d'Epoca" named: "Antica Torre di via Tornabuoni n° 1" and the "Palazzo Gianfigliazzi". The historic building, which belonged to the Gianfigliazzi family until the end of the 18th century, hosted numerous important historical figures. At the beginning of the 20th century, the palace was transformed into a "Piccioli Guesthouse", quickly becoming a favourite residence of the English aristocrats and literati that loved the atmosphere of Florence, birthplace of the Renaissance and the Sweet New Style, with its churches, works of art and unique cultural climate. After the Great War, the Piccioli Guesthouse was closed, but reopened in 2001 under the name "Antica Torre", which was later to become the "Palazzo Gianfigliazzi" in 2008. Thanks to careful restoration work which preserved and brought back to life all of the buildings original appeal, the Via Tornabuoni palace acquired life and warmth once again. The magnificent complex is considered one of the historic "tower houses" of Medieval Florence, and it preserves to this day the original architectural characteristics. It is an admirable example of how man is capable of taking buildings which were once devised for the purposes of war into oasi of peace, culture and hospitality. Guests of the "Antica Torre di via Tornabuoni n° 1" do not consider themselves simply clients, but special guests. They are surrounded by a unique atmosphere of charm and history, while at the same time enjoy an elegant and refined ambience, where the traditional fuses with the modern, offering a truly unforgettable stay. The attention to detail and the warmth of the rooms make the "Antica Torre di via Tornabuoni n° 1" the premier choice when visiting the most beautiful city of art in Italy. This is emphasized, not only by the comfortable bedrooms, but also by the two magnificent terraces with their breathtaking panoramic views over the whole of Florence, which offer unforgettable emotional experiences.

Fino all’anno 1530 la famiglia ebbe trenta priori e dieci Gonfalonieri, diversi cavalieri a speron d’oro, commissari in guerra e ambasciatori.

A remarkable piece of Florentine history is now on display at Palazzo Vecchio.

The diorama exhibited in the Sala Firenze Capitale recreates the emotional moment when, on July 20, 1945, hundreds of artworks stolen by German troops during World War II finally returned to Florence.

Created by Italo-Mexican model maker Marco Certo in an impressive 1:48 scale, the installation brings this historic scene back to life with extraordinary attention to detail.

On May 27, 1993, Florence was shaken by the tragic bombing of Via dei Georgofili, a mafia attack that forever marked the city’s history.

The explosion claimed the lives of an entire family: Fabrizio and Angela Nencioni, their daughters Nadia and Caterina, as well as student Dario Capolicchio. It also caused severe damage to the Uffizi Gallery and the Vasari Corridor, striking at the very heart of Florence’s cultural heritage.

Today, Florence remembers the victims with sorrow, solidarity, and the continued pursuit of truth and justice.

Florence has always been a city of towers.

Some were built to protect the city. Others, like ours, were meant to welcome those who wish to experience its beauty 😉

Just a short walk from Antica Torre Tornabuoni, Torre San Niccolò still rises above the city walls after nearly seven centuries, offering one of the most fascinating views over Florence and the Arno.

Climbing its ancient stairs means discovering a different perspective of the city: closer, quieter, and deeply connected to Florence’s history. Especially at sunset, when the golden light blends into the terracotta rooftops. ✨
