For those who work, create, and carry on their craft here every day, Oltrarno means home, tradition, encounters, and a sense of belonging. And perhaps it is precisely its many different interpretations that tell its story better than any definition.
Thank you to all the artisans who opened the doors of their workshops to us and shared a piece of their "Oltrarno" with us.

Per chi qui lavora, crea e porta avanti il proprio mestiere ogni giorno, Oltrarno significa casa, tradizione, incontri, appartenenza. E forse sono proprio le tante interpretazioni diverse a raccontarlo meglio di qualsiasi definizione.
Grazie a tutti gli artigiani che ci hanno aperto le porte delle loro botteghe e hanno condiviso con noi un pezzo del loro “Oltrarno”.

From the choice of silks to the embroidery, and even the details crafted by the goldsmiths in the neighborhood: this is also how the craftsmanship of the Oltrarno continues to evolve.

Da Mani del Sud ogni creazione nasce da un’idea, ma spesso sono più mani a darle forma.
Il lavoro dell’atelier si intreccia con quello di altri artigiani fiorentini, creando una piccola rete di competenze che permette di realizzare pezzi unici e personalizzabili.
Dalla scelta delle sete ai ricami, fino ai dettagli realizzati dagli orafi del quartiere: è anche così che l’artigianato dell’Oltrarno continua a evolversi.

Mani del Sud was born from the meeting of two places: the Basilicata of Raffaele Stella Brienza’s origins and Florence, the city that welcomed him.
For his atelier, Raffaele chose the Oltrarno, among the lesser-traveled streets where, even today, workshops, artists, and artisans hide, often working far from the crowded storefronts.
This, too, is the beauty of the neighborhood: getting lost in its streets and discovering realities you might otherwise risk never encountering.

Mani del Sud nasce dall’incontro tra due luoghi: la Basilicata delle origini di Raffaele Stella Brienza e Firenze, la città che lo ha accolto.
Per il suo atelier Raffaele ha scelto l’Oltrarno, tra strade meno battute dove ancora oggi si nascondono laboratori, artisti e artigiani che spesso lavorano lontano dalle vetrine più affollate.
È anche questo il bello del quartiere: perdersi tra le sue vie e scoprire realtà che, altrimenti, rischieresti di non incontrare.

The Flora Lastraioli atelier is one of those places that tells the story of the value of Florentine craftsmanship. This is not only due to what is created inside, but also because of the ongoing dialogue with other workshops in the Oltrarno district, where different skills and techniques have always met. Strolling through the neighborhood, you discover that it is precisely this network of relationships that makes it so special: every workshop preserves its own identity while simultaneously contributing to keeping a shared tradition alive.

L'atelier di Flora Lastraioli è uno di quei luoghi che raccontano il valore dell'artigianato fiorentino. Non solo per ciò che viene realizzato al suo interno, ma anche per il dialogo continuo con altre botteghe dell'Oltrarno, dove competenze e lavorazioni diverse si incontrano da sempre.
Passeggiando per il quartiere si scopre che è proprio questa rete di relazioni a renderlo così speciale: ogni laboratorio conserva la propria identità, contribuendo allo stesso tempo a mantenere viva una tradizione condivisa.
