L’Ippogrifo is an art print studio founded in the Oltrarno in 1977, and ever since, it has carried forward a craft centered on the uniqueness of each piece.
Here, every print is different: the technique itself makes it impossible to create identical copies, and that’s exactly what defines the value of their work.
An approach that stays true to the workshop’s original vision—creating one-of-a-kind pieces, in contrast to mass production.

L’Ippogrifo è una stamperia d’arte nata nell’Oltrarno nel 1977 e da allora porta avanti una lavorazione che mette al centro l’unicità del pezzo.
Qui ogni stampa è diversa dall’altra: la tecnica stessa rende impossibile ottenere copie identiche, ed è proprio questo uno degli aspetti che definisce il valore del loro lavoro.
Un approccio che resta fedele all’idea originaria della bottega: produrre oggetti unici, in contrasto con la produzione in serie.

Castorina is a historic presence in the Oltrarno, with roots that go back much further.
The story begins in 1895 in Catania with great-grandfather Mario, continues in Rome, and arrives in Florence in 1953, when Eugenio opens the shop in Santo Spirito.
For over 70 years, it has been here—right in one of the neighborhoods where Florentine craftsmanship was born, surrounded by historic palaces and artisan workshops that still define the identity of the Oltrarno today.

Castorina è una realtà storica dell’Oltrarno, ma le sue origini partono da lontano.
La storia inizia nel 1895 a Catania con il bisnonno Mario, prosegue a Roma e arriva a Firenze nel 1953, quando Eugenio apre il negozio in Santo Spirito.
Da oltre 70 anni è qui, in uno dei quartieri dove è nato l’artigianato fiorentino, tra palazzi storici e botteghe che ancora oggi definiscono l’identità dell’Oltrarno.

If you’re staying at Oltrarno Apartments over Easter, you can’t miss one of Florence’s most historic traditions: the Scoppio del Carro.
On Easter morning, in Piazza del Duomo, the “Brindellone” is set alight by the “colombina”—a dove-shaped rocket that is released from the altar inside the Florence Cathedral and travels along a wire to reach the cart, setting the spectacle in motion.

Se soggiorni a Oltrarno Apartments nel periodo di Pasqua, non puoi perderti una delle tradizioni più storiche di Firenze: lo Scoppio del Carro.
La mattina di Pasqua, in Piazza del Duomo, il “Brindellone” viene acceso grazie alla “colombina”, un razzo a forma di colomba che parte dall’altare della Cattedrale e raggiunge il carro, dando inizio allo spettacolo.
