Some guests arrive in Florence with a precise list: Uffizi, Duomo, Ponte Vecchio. Others ask us, on their way back in the evening, “so what shall we do tomorrow?” We like both. Because if there is one thing we have learned over the years at Palazzo Castri 1874, it is that no two stays are alike: Florence is a city that lets itself be told in a thousand different ways, and its surroundings add a thousand more. September, with its still-long days and softer light, is perhaps the best month to explore them.

Ci sono ospiti che arrivano a Firenze con una lista precisa: Uffizi, Duomo, Ponte Vecchio. E ci sono ospiti che ci chiedono, la sera al rientro, «e domani cosa facciamo?». A noi piacciono entrambi. Perché se c'è una cosa che abbiamo imparato in questi anni a Palazzo Castri 1874 è che non esistono due soggiorni uguali: Firenze è una città che si lascia raccontare in mille modi diversi, e i suoi dintorni ne aggiungono altri mille. Settembre, poi, con le giornate ancora lunghe e la luce più morbida, è forse il mese migliore per esplorarli.

Ci sono ospiti che arrivano a Firenze con una lista precisa: Uffizi, Duomo, Ponte Vecchio. E ci sono ospiti che ci chiedono, la sera al rientro, «e domani cosa facciamo?».

Ai nostri ospiti piace stare comodi. Molto comodi.
C’è chi chiede un cuscino in più e chi, invece, decide di trasferirsi direttamente tra i cuscini. Noi non giudichiamo: al massimo ne portiamo un altro.

Lo sapevi che non nacque come residenza dei Medici? Fu commissionato nel Quattrocento dal ricco mercante fiorentino Luca Pitti, che desiderava una dimora capace di rivaleggiare con quelle della potente famiglia Medici. Ironia della storia, pochi decenni dopo il palazzo venne acquistato proprio dai Medici e trasformato nella loro grandiosa residenza. Da ambizioso progetto privato a reggia di tre dinastie: Medici, -Lorena e Savoia.
