Today marks the official end of our 10th season of business at Masseria Giulio. Time really does fly! In that time we have received over 950 bookings and welcomed just under 3,000 guests staying for 4,750 nights. We have had guests from 35 countries from around the globe including: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Finland, Israel, New Zealand, South Korea, the USA and the UAE. We've also had guests from 19 of the 20 Italian regions (come on Sardegna!). We have received 350 reviews across various platforms with an overall average rating of 96.5%. Better still more than 10% of our bookings have been either repeat bookings or referrals.
Special mention to our three superstar groups for whom Masseria Giulio is a bit of a home away from home - Alison and Ian, Giulia and Sergio (plus the rest of the extended family) and Renata and Miha. We've been honoured to play our part in the big day for many couples - helping to celebrate your weddings have left us with great memories that will stay with us forever. We have also been delighted to welcome back two sets of guests who first couple as couples and then returned a few years later with their young family. We have been blessed to form friendships with many guests and always look forward to catching up with them - some memorable reunions include: descending on an English pub in Bearsted to spend an afternoon nattering in Italian over a traditional Sunday roast and a fully personalised city tour of Warsaw.
We are still unsure whether we were brave or clueless when we gave up our jobs, sold up and moved to southern Italy to renovate a crumbling ruin and start a new business. Probably a bit of both. However, after 10 seasons it still feels like this is our Italian Escape and we've made it with no regrets. There are a few lessons and pieces of advice that maybe we'd like to be able to share with our 2014/15 selves - but overall the blood, sweat and tears (there have been plenty of each!) have been more than worth it.
