Sono fioriti i gigli nella nostra terrazza/bar al 4° piano dove serviamo anche la colazione nella stagione calda. Ambasciatori dell’estate, fioriscono una volta l’anno e ci avvertono che dobbiamo riaprire anche agli ospiti esterni la nostra splendida terrazza. Sono un misto fra il giglio bianco di Sant’Antonio (13 giugno) e quello rosso di San Giovanni (24 giugno), da noi sono sempre sbocciati i primi di maggio. Li aveva piantati, almeno 40 anni fa, la creatrice dell’hotel Palladio la pittrice Zofia Wilinska Valentino trasformando nel 1978 il palazzo di famiglia.
The lilies are in bloom on our fourth-floor terrace bar, where we serve breakfast during the warmer months. As ambassadors of summer, they bloom only once a year, signaling that it is time to reopen our stunning terrace to outside guests.
These flowers are a cross between the white Saint Anthony’s lily (June 13) and the red Saint John’s lily (June 24); however, in our garden, they have always blossomed in early May. They were planted over forty years ago by the founder of Hotel Palladio, the painter Zofia Wilinska Valentino, when she transformed the family palazzo in 1978.
