There is a particular luxury in having nowhere to be.

No schedule worth mentioning. No watch worth checking. Just a mountain outside the window, something cold in a glass, and an afternoon quietly getting away with itself.

At MIRAMONTI, we have always thought that was a rather good way to spend a day.

A day trip to Bolzano.

An espresso here. A little stroll there. Nice boutiques, good food and no particular plan, which, as it turns out, is often the best one.

A few hours wandering through the old town, stopping wherever something looks interesting, ordering another glass of wine because the afternoon is still young.

Bolzano is close enough for a day trip and interesting enough to make you forget the time.

Back to the mountains by evening, perhaps with one or two shopping bags and absolutely no regrets. ⛰

There are walks, and then there are walks that make you forget to check the time.

Around MIRAMONTI, the trails begin almost at our doorstep and quickly trade roads for forest paths, meadows and mountain silence. Larch and spruce woods give way to open alpine pastures, with Merano and the valley unfolding far below.

Some routes are gentle enough for a slow morning. Others lead deeper into the mountains and the sort of views that make lunch taste better afterwards.

No great agenda required. Just good shoes, a little time, and the willingness to see where the path goes. ⛰

What began as a personal passion grew into MONTI Coffee. Our own specialty coffee, carefully roasted at 1,818 metres above sea level and served throughout the hotel and our ROTWAND mountain restaurant, from the first cappuccino in the morning to the last espresso after dinner.

Because great coffee isn't just tasted. It's experienced.
