The team photo shoot at the beginning of the year—during that phase when we’re bringing Ottmanngut back into shape—has become a tradition by now. Just like the fact that I always call our photographer far too late, and she somehow still makes it work. Or that everyone complains a little about having to take photos right in the middle of the cleaning phase, when no one could possibly have perfect hair. Or that, after all these years, we still haven’t found the perfect spot for the full team photo.
And yet, in the end, it’s always two wonderfully funny hours. One of those rare moments when we’re truly all together.
What stays with me far more than material for the website or social media is this moment itself: everyone a little excited, making each other laugh, joking around and creating more photos for the Ottmanngut “family album”—something we can leaf through later, drifting into memories, thinking about who was here when, how each person shaped the house, and how paths cross, separate, run parallel for a while, and then meet again.
I love this tradition at the start of the season.
And what I actually wanted to say is this: here are these wonderful people who make this house what it is, and who work on it every day to make it as beautiful and welcoming as possible—for guests, for family, and for each other.
I love this team. I appreciate each and every one of them so deeply and I am so grateful to be able to work with all of them every single day. Thank you!
