Overview
Long a favorite country retreat for wealthy Florentines, Mugello, a 30-minute drive north of the quiet town, is Chianti's closest cousin and stays blissfully off the beaten tourist track despite its equally lovely landscapes and fine wines. Fruit of the earth, sun or wine, the area has bred more than its fair share of creative geniuses, because two of the most beloved artists of the Renaissance were born a stone's throw from the town, Giotto and Fra 'Angelico di Vicchio, home to this lovely villa. With elegant interiors that belie its rustic stone walls, the villa has recently been rescued from ruin and transformed into a very comfortable summer house. The marble-floored living areas open onto a large terrace with gorgeous views, shaded areas for relaxing and dining - and plenty of room to set up a trestle. The size of the house and its self-contained guest house (guesthouse) provide plenty of living areas, indoors and out, making it an ideal property for a large group with a variety of different programs.
Available for rent and ideal for weddings and private parties
