Di particolare valore artistico è il portale bugnato sul quale troneggia lo stemma dei Venturi, entrambi realizzati da maestri artigiani con un’estrema cura dei dettagli. Palazzo Ducale Venturi è una delle prime dimore ducali salentine ad aprire le porte ed accogliere i propri ospiti nel sontuoso ed aristocratico universo di cinque secoli di storia, arte e cultura. La struttura è stata completamente ristrutturata sotto la supervisione della Soprintendenza ai Beni Culturali, recuperando i gli originali forni al sale, le volte a stella nella tipica pietra Leccese e i pavimenti in chianche antiche. Built in 1500, and once called ‘Castello Nuovo’, Palazzo Ducale Venturi was originally a settlement for the Knights Templar and then a medieval fortress. The Palazzo is an austere sixteenth century building, which can be considered as a real fortified house. The evidence of this are the machicolations over the windows on the facade, to defend the palace and people who lived there against enemy attacks. Also the ashlar portal and the Venturi emblem above – both made with a special attention to details – show the artistic value of the building and its authenticity. Palazzo Ducale Venturi is one of the first stately home in Salento to open its doors and welcome guests in the luxurious and aristocratic world of five centuries of history, art and culture. The Palazzo has been completely restored under the supervision of the Authority for Cultural Heritage, managing to recover two antique salt ovens, some fireplaces, the star-vaulted ceilings in leccese stone, and the original floors with the “chianche” (blocks of local old stone). Today the noble stately home is available for all those who dream of unique moments spent in a fascinating place, full of history, art, legends, and cuddled by its many services.
