🌿 Dining at Ca’Novae 🍽️
Many guests ask us the same question: "Can we have dinner at your place tomorrow?". And sometimes, when we gently say no, they are surprised.
But Ca’Novae is not a restaurant. It has never wanted to be one.
Our dinners are not prepared in a few hours. They begin days before. With research. With farmers. With seasonal ingredients that cannot simply be “ordered”.
With slow preparation, old recipes, fresh herbs, stocks, doughs, desserts, flowers, candles, details.
What we offer is not service. It is hospitality.
A dinner at Ca’Novae is the dinner of celebrations. The kind remembered from childhood. The one grandmothers prepared with care, anticipation, and respect for the guests arriving at the table.
This is why there are only a few seats. A few tables under the porch, among flowers and candlelight. Or inside the warm salon, in a quiet country-chic atmosphere made of soft lights, old wood, linen, silverware and stories.
Nothing rushed. Nothing industrial. Nothing fake. We do not cook for everyone. We cook for people able to understand time. Care. Attention. Silence. Quality. Emotion.
Over the years, we have welcomed princes, princesses, diplomats, generals, professors, intellectuals. But above all, sensitive PEOPLE.
People still capable of being moved by a real meal shared slowly.
We are not a starred restaurant. Elizabeth is not a celebrity chef. She is simply a cook.
A woman who cooks with memory, instinct, culture and love. We do not chase awards. We do not want to resemble the many gourmet restaurants surrounding us.
No trophies. No performances. Only happy people around a table.
At Ca’Novae, every dish is made for SOMEONE SPECIAL. ✨
And perhaps this is why our dinners can never be prepared at the last minute. Some things in life still deserve time. 🌿🍽️ ✨

🌿 A Morning at Ca’Novae 🧘🏼
Some mornings are not simply lived.
They are felt. Today began beside the pond, with a yoga session greeting the sun, while flowers reflected on the water and little creatures watched us with curiosity, as if wondering what these strange humans were doing.
Then came first breakfast. 🥧🍰☕
It was supposed to be light. Just something small. But at Ca’Novae, these things rarely go according to plan.
One cake became two. Then another taste. Then laughter. Then stories. And suddenly, what should have lasted a few minutes became one of those slow, happy moments nobody wants to leave.
The morning continued beneath the shade of the linden tree, with a Pilates session facing the Tuscan hills. 🧎‍➡️
Maybe it was concentration. Maybe grace. But for a moment, there was an almost unnatural silence. Only birds singing. Only wind moving through leaves. Only nature breathing around us.
And then came brunch. Our savoury cakes wild herbs and zucchini, caramelized onions. Wild flower salads farro, wild fennel, valerian, dandelion and borage. Omelettes with zucchini flowers and asparagus. 🥗🥞🥖
And while everyone sat together around the table, it felt like one of those rare moments where nothing extraordinary happened... except happiness.
At Ca’Novae, sometimes the most beautiful days are simply the ones that unfold slowly. 🌿🧘🏼🍽️ ✨

🌿 World Biodiversity Day 🌱
Today, the world celebrates biodiversity.
Speeches will be made. Pictures of enchanted places will be posted. Photographs will be shared. Promises will be repeated.
And meanwhile, somewhere else, roots are being torn from the earth. Forests opened. Soil wounded. Water displaced. Nests destroyed before anyone even notices they existed.
The same humanity that applauds nature too often destroys it the moment protection becomes inconvenient.
And the most painful part?
Sometimes, the same politics that celebrates biodiversity is the one sacrificing it for consensus, speed, and short-term interests.
At Ca’Novae, we see both worlds.
Protected forests still alive with silence and wings.
And territories invaded, excavated, exhausted.
We stand with what still lives. With the bees still searching for flowers. With the animals fleeing the noise. With the fragile beauty that cannot defend itself against machines, indifference, and hypocrisy.
Because biodiversity is not a word. It is life.
And once destroyed, no speech, no celebration, no public ceremony will bring it back. 🐝🌷 🐦🌳 🐜 🌿✨

🐝 World Bee Day. 🐝
At Ca’Novae, bees are our most numerous animals. And also the quiete st. They do not shout. They do not complain. They simply work. Relentlessly. Every day.
For years now, we have harvested very little honey. Most of it stays with them, because survival matters more than production. We do not feed them artificial candy syrups. We prefer honesty over labels, coherence over convenient definitions.
In recent years, we have lost many colonie. To violent weather. To drought. To imbalance. And sometimes, to human ignorance.
Now, after the wounds inflicted on the land, they are already fighting another battle: dry soil, fewer flowers, less nourishment.
This is why parts of our meadow remain untouched. Why some grass grows taller. Why flowers are allowed to bloom freely.
Not because we are careless. But because someone must think about the lives that depend on those flowers. 🌿🌱🌿🌼🌿🌱🌺🌱
Some people mock this. They comment with arrogance, with assumptions, with cruelty.
But bees do not listen to insults. They continue flying. Searching. Pollinating. Keeping life alive while humans argue.
🐝🐝🐝
Sometimes, it feels as though our territory is more interested in celebrating the dead than protecting the living.
More energy is spent remembering the past than defending the fragile life still fighting to survive today, the bees, the flowers, the water, the land itself.
But memory without care for the future becomes only nostalgia. And a territory survives not because it remembers what it was, but because it protects what still lives.
At Ca’Novae, we stand with them. With the fragile. With the necessary. With those who sustain the world quietly without ever being celebrated enough.
Because a territory is not defended with slogan. It is defended with choices.
Every single day.
And despite everything, despite the damage, the drought, the noise, the ignorance, the bees are still flying. And as long as they continue to fly, there is still hope. 🐝🌿✨

“So? What are they doing now?” asks Gino from inside. 🐈‍⬛
Spritz jumps onto the windowsill outside, slightly dramatic, clearly returning from an important inspection. 🐈
“The machines are still there,” he says.
“Humans digging and shouting. Dust everywhere. Very suspicious activity.” ☄️
Gino listens carefully through the mosquito net, trying to remain calm and professional.
“And the birds?” 🐦 “Nervous.”
“And the chickens?” 🐓 “Still gossiping.”
“And the dogs?” 🐕 “No idea. Running. Always running.”
A moment of silence.
Then Spritz leans closer.
“But the lizards are back in the garden” 🦎 “Good.”
“And the bees too” 🐝 “Very good”
Another pause.
“The flowers are blooming.” 🪻 “Excellent.”
At Ca’Novae, even the cats know that spring always finds a way back.
And every evening, through windows, screens, gardens and flowers, the great neighborhood meeting begins again. 🐾✨🌿

These days, something small is happening.
You walk past the incubator and hear a faint sound. Pi… pi… pi… 🥚🥚🥚
You don’t think much of it. Life here is full of little noises. But when you pass again, it’s different.
Stronger. Insistent. Alive. Pio pio pio… 🐣
And then you understand. They’re here.
Tiny. Fragile. Still wet, still clinging to the shell that held them just moments before.
Not beautiful, not yet. But deeply, incredibly moving.
And in a short while, everything changes.
The feathers dry. The legs steady. The world begin. 🐥
And suddenly, they are everywhere. Curious. Restless. Full of life. 🐤
A chorus of pio pio filling the air, announcing something simple and extraordinary at the same time: life has begun again.
At Ca’Novae, this is how it happens.
But with a kind of wonder that never fades.
Welcome to Ca’Novae. Welcome home. 🐣🏡 🌿 ✨

There is a moment, during breakfast, when everything becomes… familiar.
You walk by the table, almost without thinking, and notice a jar. Empty.
“Ah… the strawberry one,” you smile. “It was loved.” You open another. 🍓 ..
Across the table, someone who woke up early, the first coffee still in their hands, looks up and asks: “Is that the cake from yesterday? It was so good.” 🥧
You smile. “There are new ones today.”
A pause. A decision: “I’ll take a slice of yesterday… and try the new ones too.”
And suddenly, everyone is smiling. 🍰
Because this is how mornings unfold here.
Nothing planned. Nothing staged.
Cakes that continue from one day to the next. Flavours remembered. Small preferences, already known...
And then, at the end: “If you like, I can prepare something to take with you…”
A gentle refusal. A quick glance. A soft surrender. “Well… yes. Thank you.”
“What would you like?”
“You choose... Maybe hazelnut… chocolate… and a slice of tart?” “Of course.”
At Ca’Novae, breakfast is not just what is on the table. It is what happens around it.
That feeling of being known, even if you arrived just yesterday.
And when you leave, you take a little piece with you. Not just to eat. But to remember. 🌿🥧🍰 ✨

After the storm, the garden looked different.
Wind and rain had bent the trees, scattered branches, shaken everything awake.
And then, on the ground, we found it. 🪹
A tiny nest of great t**s, fallen from above. Small bodies pressed together, silent, perfectly still.
For a moment, we were afraid. Were they cold? Weak? Hurt?
But then, suddenly, all at once, their eyes opened.
And immediately, their tiny beaks stretched toward the sky: hungry, hungry hungry! 🪱🪱🪱
We quickly found a safe place nearby, protected, not far from where the nest had fallen.
And soon after… she arrived.
Mama bird. 🐦
Restless for only a second, before understanding. Then calm again. Back to work. Back to love. Feeding them, warming them, caring for them as if nothing in the world mattered more.
At Ca’Novae, these moments happen quietly. Tiny lives. Tiny hearts. Tiny miracles. 🌿🪹 🐦🩷 ✨

There is a moment, after breakfast, when the table slowly empties.
Jars of jam half open, crumbs of cake, a piece of bread left behind.
And yet… nothing here is really “left over”.
At Ca’Novae, everything continues.
What is not eaten returns to life. To the chickens, to the geese, to the turkeys, to the small birds waiting nearby. 🐓🦆🐓🐦🐦‍⬛
Nothing is thrown away without meaning. Nothing is wasted without thought.
Because what we prepare is made at home, with time, with ingredients that matter.
And what remains is still part of a cycle of care, of respect, of balance.
So when you sit at our breakfast table, you are not just tasting something good. You are part of something whole. A simple gesture, that continues even after the last bite. ♻️ 🌿✨

Spring has reopened the stage on the pond. The yellow irises make their entrance,
tall and confident. ⚜️ Water lilies slowly lift their leaves, preparing the next act.
Below the surface, the cast is already in motion. 🐟 White, red and golden carp glide like seasoned dancers, finally at peace, now that the grey heron and left for his long journey. 🦩
In the shadows, 🦎 newts and salamanders observe, half-hidden in the soft mud, occasionally rising, a small 🫧 bubble, a flick of a tail, just enough to change perspective.
And somewhere, unseen, a quiet presence: the shy, rare slow worm, keeping the balance.
Soon, the marsh plants will bloom, and the air will fill with color: butterflies, dragonflies in blue, red, yellow, violet, a whole orchestra of wings.
And then… the audience arrives: “Can we swim in it?”, “Of course”, we say.
Some have. The brave ones. The cold-water heroes.
The others?
“No… the cold is not good for me”, “No… the bottom is too dark”,  “No… something moves in there”.
Of course it does. This is not a pool. This is life.
At Ca’Novae, the pond is not just a place.
It is a small theatre, where nature performs every day. And you can choose: to watch… or to jump in. 😄🌿💧
