The Barn at the Bottom of the Garden & The Stalla 2 bedroom converted barn & open plan apartment attached to an 18th Century Abbruzzese farmhouse. 10 minutes from the sea & 45 minutes from the mountains.

A couple of years ago we converted the cellars (formerly the stables) of our beloved family holiday home near Ortona and Pescara in the Abruzzo region of Italy and it is now available for rental from April to October. We have visited the area annually for literally decades and love it. There are very few other places in the world where within the hour you can be on the coast and then visit the mou

ntains or vice versa. The food is honest, gutsy and delicious. Everyone you meet is friendly. The scenery is beautiful, often breathtaking. It's a great place to relax, unwind and recharge the batteries.

A day out in the mountains and at Casoli Castle. The mountains walk is with CAI who end their walking season with a lovely spot where you cook sausages over an open fire. Casoli Castle isn't open in the winter (opens in June) but looks pretty spectacular in the autumn sunshine from the outside anyway.

So different to the summer with all its ombrelloni and the bar open and full of people. This is our beach in the autumn: deserted, peaceful and lovely in a completely different way. Populated by dog walkers, runners & walkers at this time of year. Sometimes an insane English person (me) goes for a dip. Freezing but addictively invigorating.
