As one of our very first guests, when The Hideaway Apartments were still a building site and central heating still just a dream, Karla Marie Sweet came to stay and helped brainstorm the never-ending novel.
Since then she's had books published, married my one of my best mates and started one of the best Substacks out there. It was a pleasure writing this guest post. Sunday morning vibes filled with fresh air, nature, wildlife and tranquility.

Wax & pack away the skis and snowboards. Charge the e-bikes & head into valleys that were inaccessible just a month or two ago.

Run trails that were snowing showing paths in winter.

Swap ski boots for hiking boots.

Instead of layering up and worrying about waterproofing, strip off and jump into icy cold lakes.

Instead of first lifts, get up even earlier and head to the peak for sunrise.

Instead of apres, we grill in the garden, or around a camping stove as the sun sets.

The tragedy in Switzerland over New Year is so horrifically sad & no words will ever be good enough, but we're thinking of all involved - the adults and kids who went out to celebrate and have lost their lives, the families and friends who have lost loved ones or are still waiting for news, the injured and the responders and the whole community.

🎉 Happy New Year!🎉

It's one of our non-negotiables that we get up the mountain on Christmas Day & New Years Day - an intention setting for the year ahead to make sure we're starting as we mean to go on.

Today was gorgeous, and although the wind picked up just as I was filming this video, it was a day of great conditions, nice little stops along the way making the most of the Sauce d'Oulx discount card.

Just the right balance of snowboarding and stopping at for sun-drenched coffees, lunch at .capannina for lunch and for apres drinks.
