In Piazza dei Cavalieri, on the façade of Palazzo della Carovana, among decorations, mythological figures and zodiac signs, you can also spot a tortoise with a sail on its back. 🐢⛵
This is not a random detail: it represents the Medici motto “Festina lente”, meaning “make haste slowly”. The idea was to act quickly, but always with caution. There is another interesting detail too: only eight zodiac signs are visible on the façade, because the other four were hidden by the staircase added at a later date. ♈

Breakfast is available for an additional fee and offers a good enough selection of food. The hotel also provides private parking for €15 per night, but it is better to reserve a parking spot in advance.

"Abbiamo trascorso un soggiorno davvero piacevole all'Hotel Alessandro della Spina. È un hotel piccolo, accogliente e ben curato, con un'atmosfera calorosa e rilassante. Il servizio è stato cordiale e disponibile per tutta la durata del soggiorno, facendoci sentire davvero i benvenuti.
La colazione è disponibile con un supplemento e offre una buona varietà di prodotti. L'hotel dispone inoltre di un parcheggio privato al costo di 15 € a notte, ma è consigliabile prenotare il posto auto in anticipo.
