There's a moment in the evening when the lake slows down and the light turns gold.

That's when we'll be waiting for you: on board a sailing boat, an aperitivo in hand, watching Riva del Garda change colour. The skipper does the sailing — you just sit back and enjoy the view.

Small groups, max 5 people. We set off around 6 pm from San Nicolò port, a short walk from Residence Centro Vela. On weekends in September and October, weather permitting.

Fifteen kilometres from Riva del Garda the landscape changes completely: no lake, no olive trees. Just white rock, as far as you can see.

This is the Marocche di Dro, the largest post-glacial landslide in the whole of the Alps: 13 km² of boulders that fell from Monte Brento when the glacier retreated. The name comes from the local dialect — "maroc" means boulder.

What you find along the trail:

🦕 dinosaur footprints on a large rock, more than 100 million years old
🌲 "natural bonsai": trees that stay under one metre tall but are often over a hundred years old
🏞️ a 6.1 km loop, about 2 hours, 166 m of ascent, inside a Natura 2000 protected area

There is also a legend: the city of Kas is said to have stood here, buried when the mountains collapsed as a punishment for its people.

One practical tip: the area is low and the rock reflects the heat, so in August it is better to start early in the morning. From September the conditions are ideal. Wear hiking shoes — the ground is stony and uneven.

We have renovated the façade of the building with our new apartments and rooms: more light, more comfort — and the same short walk to the lake. ✨

Because one thing has not changed: the location. 📍 The harbour and the beaches just a few steps away, the cycle path right in front of the building 🚲, the centre of Riva del Garda 1 km away. Everything you need to step outside and feel like your holiday has already started.
