This apartment could not be better located, looking out over the Colosseum and Foro Romano in the heart of the old Roman city. The Colosseum, completed in 80 AD, is perhaps the most iconic sight of Rome. The Foro Romano is equally impressive, considered the oldest part of the city and home to several important Government buildings dating from the height of the Roman Empire. The nearby Celio neighbourhood immediately next to the Colosseum offers some great local restaurants and wine bars above all in Via S. Giovanni in Laterano, also called Gay Street. A few minutes away is another great area, Monti, which is full of old world charm and character. It is considered one of the trendiest areas at the moment, filled with fabulous little boutiques, quaint restaurants, cosy cafes and lively pubs. The area is also filled with ancient churches such as the ninth century “Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore” which is quite stunning inside and close to the Esquilino area. You can reach the main attractions of the city such as the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon or Piazza Navona on foot. The nearest metro stations are Cavour or Colosseo (Linea B) and Manzoni or Vittorio Emanuele (Linea A).
