Save this guide for your next Roman sunset 🌅
In August, sunset in Rome gets earlier throughout the month:

• 1 August: around 8:28 pm
• 15 August: around 8:10 pm
• 31 August: around 7:45 pm

Try to arrive 40–45 minutes before sunset to find a good spot and enjoy the golden hour.

📍 Giardino degli Aranci — Aventine Hill
Perfect for a framed view of St Peter’s and the Roman skyline. The panoramic terrace has reopened after restoration, including work on the medieval walls and new evening lighting. In August, the garden closes at 9 pm, so don’t arrive too late.

📍 Terrazza del Pincio — above Piazza del Popolo
One of the most classic views in Rome, overlooking Piazza del Popolo, the rooftops and St Peter’s dome. You can reach it using the ramps from Piazza del Popolo or through Villa Borghese.

📍 Gianicolo — Piazzale Garibaldi
Choose this one for a wider panorama over Rome’s historic centre and its many domes. There is no garden gate to worry about, so you can stay while the city lights begin to appear.

📍 Monte Ciocci — Via Anastasio II
A quieter alternative with a beautiful view towards St Peter’s Basilica. The park is open from dawn until sunset, so arrive early rather than at the last minute.
