The apartment is just a short distance from Navona Piazza, one of the most popular squares in all of Rome. The narrow streets around the apartment are filled with museums, shops, cafes, bars and restaurants and the area is great to explore. Within walking distance of the apartment is the Pantheon constructed around 126AD and one of the best preserved buildings from the Roman empire. Just a few hundred metres from the Trevi fountain are the Spanish Steps, the widest steps in Europe that need to be visited for the amazing view from both the top and bottom. The architecture in the area is amazing and the walk from the bottom of the steps to Piazza del Popolo, Northern Rome’s biggest piazza is fantastic. Piazza del Popolo is a must visit complete with an obelisk, lion sculptures, churches and a beautiful garden above. Also within walking distance is the Colosseum, opened in 80 AD, and perhaps the most iconic of sight of Rome. For close to 2000 years the Amphitheatre has captured the hearts and minds of locals and tourists alike and is often considered one of the greatest works of Roman architecture and engineering. The Foro Romano is equally impressive, considered the oldest part of the city and home to several important Government buildings dating from the height of the Roman Empire. Spending a few hours walking around the Forum gives you an idea of the just how impressive the city would have been 2000 years ago. Many of the city’s famous sights can be reached on foot but for those places just a little further away the apartment is well serviced by public transport with Roma Termini within walking distance.
