The Opera House at the Circus Maximus.
This is the summer program of the Rome Opera House, from June 29 to July 31, 2026 at the Circus Maximus , one of the most emblematic places of the capital's archaeological heritage.
Program:
From June 29th to July 31st, the Circus Maximus offers its imposing architecture to music, but also to visually striking performances and cinema.
The heart of the proposal is Aida by Giuseppe Verdi
Also on the bill is Ridley Scott 's Gladiator , presented in the concert film format, with the soundtrack performed live by the Orchestra and Chorus of the Rome Opera.

Roberto Bolle and Friends returns on July 14th , featuring the star of Italian dance alongside internationally renowned dancers.
Dance returns to the forefront on July 24 and 25 with the Rome Opera Ballet, directed by Eleonora Abbagnato. The program features Romeo and Juliet

The Italian Republic was born on 2 June 1946, when a universal suffrage referendum (which also marked the entry of women into Italian political life) was held to choose the institutional form to be given to the country. Monday 2 June is therefore the 79th anniversary of Republic Day and, as usual, Rome is the center of the celebrations.

The celebrations normally open with the solemn flag-raising at the Altare della Patria and the homage to the Unknown Soldier with the laying of a laurel wreath by the President of the Republic, accompanied by the highest offices of state.

The President of the Republic will then receive in Via di San Gregorio (between the Colosseum and the Circus Maximus) the units involved for the traditional parade that has been held along Via dei Fori Imperiali since 1948. The parade starts at 10 a.m. and sees the participation of all components of the state: military and civilian personnel, armed and unarmed corps, flags and banners, military bands and fanfares. The final honors are given by the fanfare of the 4th Mounted Carabinieri Regiment and the Corazzieri Regiment.

One of the most eagerly awaited events is the spectacular passage through the skies over Rome of the Frecce Tricolori of the Pattuglia Acrobatica Nazionale. The famous Frecce have the largest number of jet-powered aircraft in a military aerobatic display team, with the record number of 10, reached in Rimini on 18 June 2022. On this same date, the PAN enters the Guinness World Records book. Our aerobatic team was created in 1961 as a permanent group for training Air Force pilots in aerobatics and flies Aermacchi MB339 jet trainers.
