Il territorio oggi occupato dal quartiere Monte Sacro appare abitato fin da età molto antica, qui sono stati ritrovati alcuni resti fossili, risalenti a 120.000 anni fa. Il quartiere sorse nel 1920 con un progetto che teneva presente l’esperienza delle city garden inglesi, si chiamò infatti Città Giardino Aniene. Da visitare la Chiesa dei Santi Angeli Custodi alla città giardini, costrui
ta nel novecento in stile Barocchetto. La Chiesa si affaccia sulla piazza Sempione , è in stile di passaggio fra fine Cinquecento e inizi Seicento, ha la facciata leggermente convessa con un elegante finestra al posto del rosone sotto il timpano. Unico da visitare Ponte Nomentano, con il quale la via Nomentana scavalca il fiume Aniene, è una costruzione di epoca romana di cui si conserva l’arcata centrale del I secolo, la parte superiore sopraelevata e fortificata nel medioevo. Secondo la tradizione qui avvenne l’incontro tra Carlo Magno e Leone III nell’anno 800. Stendhal lo ha visitato il 18 aprile 1828 e in Viaggio in Italia parla della bellezza del posto e dell’ottimo caffè italiano. ll ponte è stato ritratto da pittori, artisti, fotografi per il suo caratteristico e tetro aspetto e per la maestosità dell’arcata maggiore sulla quale si alza il complesso turrito e merlato di epoca medioevale. Vi è nato il cantante Claudio Baglioni , vi abita Sabina Guzzanti, attrice comica e satirica, Vi ha abitato il cantautore Rino Gaetano , lo scenografo Ennio Flaiano, tra i suoi film: guardie e ladri, la romana, fantasmi a Roma.
