"A succession of triumphal arches” this was the description by Goethe of the acqueducts bringing water to the Ancient Rome.

Even today the monumental and ancient arches of the Claudio Aqueduct dominate the landscape of a park that preserves a stretch of the Roman countryside, which originally extended without interruption to the Alban Hills.

In these days we would like to show you some wonderful outdoor places. Stunning gardens, parks and historical sites.

First of all: Archaeological Park of Ostia Antica!
One of the largest archeological sites of ancient Rome.
Under the Emperor Augustus and his successors, the city was provided with a theatre, a first forum and an aqueduct, but it was the construction of the port of Claudius, and especially that of the port of Trajan, which further increased its importance as an administrative center for trade!

Not far away you can visit the beautiful and picturesque village: entering the ancient door you will find yourself immersed in an atmosphere of past times. On the little square you will find the church on one side, and, on the opposite side, the castle of Julius II and the old town in all its splendor.

Want to experience the Colosseum in a way that few visitors ever do? Tour the Colosseum at night!

After the gates close to most visitors, you can still purchase a specialized tour to see the Colosseum under the night sky: no crowds. No heat.

Just you and the weight of history!

In Rome, medieval art seems crushed between the ancient ruins and the Baroque masterpieces. Still, there are some places that still retain their charm intact.
In the cloisters of San Giovanni in Laterano and San Paolo fuori le mura, for example, Arab, Egyptian, Roman traditions and medieval bestiaries come together to create a timeless spirituality.

Authentic as Rome:
"Cacio e pepe", a simple Roman dish that depends on the quality of just a few ingredients: rich cheese, bronze-extruded pasta, and freshly-ground pepper.

Don't miss the "Cacio e pepe Festival" at Eataly from 17 to 19 January.

Fontana dell'Acqua Paola: also known as Il Fontanone ("The big fountain") is a monumental fountain located on the Janiculum Hill, near the church of San Pietro in Montorio.

It was built in 1612 to mark the end of the Acqua Paola aqueduct, restored by Pope Paul V, and took its name from him. It was the first major fountain on the right bank of the River Tiber.

After a 6-month restoration project funded by Fendi, Rome’s “fontanone” is back in all its splendor!
