Avendo un passato come hostess di terra prima di aprire il mio B&B, quando viaggio non riesco a fare a meno di osservare quello che succede ai gate.

Vedo continuamente l'accanimento delle compagnie low cost al momento di misurare i bagagli a mano. Una severità che spesso colpisce solo i ragazzi più giovani, mentre i passeggeri più grandi vengono lasciati passare. A livello personale, non lo trovo per niente giusto.

Per questo sono curiosissima di vedere cosa cambierà davvero con il nuovo regolamento europeo. La proposta, che è ancora in discussione al Consiglio, prevede che il biglietto base di tutte le compagnie (anche le low cost) debba includere un vero bagaglio a mano tipo trolley, e non solo il classico zainetto sotto il sedile.

Sarebbe una bella svolta per chi viaggia per un weekend e vuole farlo senza l'ansia del centimetro all'imbarco. Tu cosa ne pensi? Sarebbe l'ora di cambiare le regole?
Having a background as ground staff before opening my B&B, when I travel I can't help but observe what happens at the gates.

I constantly see the relentless strictness of low-cost airlines when measuring hand luggage. A strictness that often only targets younger people, while older passengers are let through. On a personal level, I don't find it fair at all.

That's why I'm extremely curious to see what will actually change with the new European regulation. The proposal, which is still under discussion at the Council, states that the basic ticket of all airlines (even low-cost ones) must include a real cabin bag like a trolley, and not just the classic under-seat backpack.

It would be a great turning point for those traveling for a weekend who want to do so without the anxiety of measuring every inch at boarding. What do you think? Is it time to change the rules?

Fare accoglienza non significa solo avere delle belle stanze. È un mestiere vero, che non si può improvvisare.

In fuga dal caldo di Roma, ho passato un fine settimana in un casale ristrutturato bellissimo. Esteticamente meraviglioso, ma dal punto di vista dell'ospitalità mancavano totalmente le basi. Letti senza coprimaterasso, un unico sapone in bagno che sembrava detersivo per i piatti e asciugamani così rigidi che sembravano fatti di cartone.

Questo è quello che succede quando si fa questo lavoro con superficialità. Quando preparo le stanze a Maison Flaminio, scelgo la biancheria e curo i dettagli guidata da una sola, semplice regola: tu ci staresti?

Se la risposta non è un "sì" assoluto, significa che non è all'altezza. Il tuo riposo in vacanza merita molta più cura di un asciugamano di cartone.

Hospitality isn't just about having nice rooms. It’s a real profession that cannot be improvised.

Escaping the heat of Rome, I spent a weekend in a beautifully restored farmhouse. Aesthetically wonderful, but from a hospitality point of view, it completely lacked the basics. Beds without mattress covers, a single soap in the bathroom that felt like dish detergent, and towels so stiff they felt like cardboard.

This is what happens when this job is done superficially. When I prepare the rooms at Maison Flaminio, I choose the linens and take care of the details guided by one simple rule: would you stay there?

If the answer isn't an absolute "yes", it means it's not good enough. Your rest on vacation deserves much more care than a cardboard towel.

Qualche settimana fa, tra fine luglio e agosto, al Foro Italico ci sono stati i campionati estivi di nuoto sincronizzato.

Avere la struttura piena di questi ragazzi, tutti tra i 10 e i 12 anni, è stata una boccata d'energia incredibile. Ma la cosa che mi ha emozionato di più è stata vedere la loro reazione quando sono entrati nelle camere: quello stupore genuino e i loro grandi "Wow!" sono stati il regalo più bello che potessi ricevere.

Alla fine, preparare una stanza in modo maniacale e curare i dettagli serve proprio a questo: a far sentire speciale chiunque varchi quella porta, che sia un manager, un turista, o un piccolo campione che si prepara per la gara.

Forza ragazzi, sempre! E tu, ti ricordi l'emozione del tuo primo viaggio sportivo o scolastico?

A few weeks ago, between late July and August, the summer synchronized swimming championships took place at the Foro Italico.

Having the property full of these kids, all between 10 and 12 years old, was an incredible breath of energy. But the thing that moved me the most was seeing their reaction when they walked into the rooms: that genuine amazement and their big "Wows!" were the best gift I could receive.

In the end, obsessively preparing a room and taking care of the details is exactly for this: to make anyone walking through that door feel special, whether it's a manager, a tourist, or a little champion getting ready for a competition.

Accogliere i viaggiatori a Roma è la mia vita, ma ogni tanto sento il bisogno di fare i bagagli e partire anch'io. È il mio lato *wanderlust* che chiama!

Quest'anno niente Oriente, si va dritti verso l'estremo Occidente. Torno in un posto speciale, dove sono già stata vent'anni fa e a cui mi lega un ricordo bellissimo: lì ho visto l'Italia vincere la finale dei Mondiali del 2006... in piena mattina!

Spero che tornare lì mi porti la stessa fortuna.

No East this year, we are heading straight to the far West. I’m going back to a special place where I was twenty years ago and to which I have a beautiful memory tied: I watched Italy win the 2006 World Cup final there... right in the middle of the morning!

Se dormi a Roma Nord, la tua serata non finisce dopo il concerto o la partita. Inizia.

A soli 10 minuti di passeggiata tranquilla da Maison Flaminio c'è Ponte Milvio. Dimentica l'idea della solita piazza per turisti: questo è il vero cuore della movida romana. È il posto dove andiamo noi residenti per prenderci un aperitivo, fare una cena che mette d'accordo tutti (dalla cucina tipica fino a scelte più moderne) e goderci una serata in mezzo ai veri romani.

L'atmosfera è sempre viva, perfetta per chi vuole staccare la spina senza doversi infilare nel traffico del centro storico. È la prima dritta che do sempre a chi arriva, e il sorriso con cui rientrano in stanza la sera è la conferma che funziona sempre.

Ci sono cose in una stanza su cui non si può scendere a compromessi. E la biancheria è una di queste.

È una vera e propria fissazione, lo ammetto. Dietro la scelta degli asciugamani perfetti c'è una ricerca infinita che solo chi fa questo mestiere con passione può capire. Ma il principio che mi guida è uno solo: chi viaggia, merita sempre il meglio.

Dalla pensioncina più semplice fino al grand hotel, il momento in cui esci dalla doccia e ti asciughi deve essere una coccola, non un fastidio. Quando entri nelle nostre stanze, voglio che tu percepisca subito questa attenzione, perché il vero riposo passa proprio dai dettagli che non si vedono nelle foto.

Chi fa accoglienza di mestiere non smette mai di farlo, nemmeno quando va in vacanza.

Quando viaggio, l'occhio cade sempre sui dettagli. Cerco la pulizia perfetta, la comodità, ma soprattutto quell'attenzione sincera verso chi varca la porta. E trovare una struttura nuova che lavora esattamente con gli stessi standard che pretendo io a Maison Flaminio è una gioia immensa.

In questa caldissima estate ho scoperto un posto in Toscana appena aperto che mi ha lasciato senza parole: impeccabile nelle camere e meraviglioso nel calore umano dei proprietari. Mi è sembrato davvero di ritrovare la mia stessa filosofia, ma immersa nel verde.

Ci sono giorni in cui l'accoglienza ti mette davvero alla prova, ma ti regala le storie più divertenti.

Quando si tratta di ve**re incontro agli orari di arrivo, cerco di fare i miracoli. Anche se la domenica c'è la Maratona, le strade sono bloccate e devo partire a piedi da casa pur di farmi trovare al portone alle 9 e mezza del mattino. L'obiettivo è sempre quello: farti posare i bagagli e farti iniziare il weekend senza stress.

Ma quando apro la porta a un ospite arrivato dall'Arabia Saudita e me lo trovo davanti con la maglietta della Lazio... beh, la diplomazia vacilla! 😂

Da buona romanista, l'istinto ha preso il sopravvento. Ma alla fine è proprio questo lo spirito che voglio si respiri qui dentro: organizzazione impeccabile, ma anche la schiettezza e l'ironia di una vera padrona di casa. (Anche se continuiamo a tifare per squadre diverse!).

When it comes to accommodating arrival times, I try to work miracles. Even if it's Sunday, the Marathon is on, the roads are blocked, and I have to walk all the way from home just to be at the front door at 9:30 in the morning. The goal is always the same: let you drop off your bags and start your weekend stress-free.

But when I open the door to a guest arriving from Saudi Arabia and he's standing there in a Lazio shirt... well, diplomacy falters! 😂

Being a die-hard Roma fan, instinct took over. But in the end, this is exactly the spirit I want people to feel in here: flawless organization, but also the bluntness and irony of a true local host. (Even if we still root for different teams!).

Ci sono momenti in cui l'accoglienza migliore è quella in cui decidi di scomparire.

Amo riconoscere la voce dei miei clienti abituali al telefono e chiamarli per nome, perché farli sentire a casa è la mia più grande gioia. Ma la verità è che il vero lusso di una struttura piccola come la nostra, con solo 5 stanze, è la privacy totale.

Quando entri, non c'è una hall affollata e non ci sono centinaia di occhi addosso. Che tu sia un volto noto che vuole passare inosservato, o semplicemente una persona che dopo una giornata di lavoro non ha voglia di parlare con nessuno, qui la discrezione è una regola d'oro. Fare finta di non riconoscerti per rispettare i tuoi spazi è il regalo più prezioso che posso farti.

Ci sono incontri che ti cambiano la prospettiva sulle cose, e avvengono proprio dove non te lo aspetti.

Quando ho aperto la zona colazione di Maison Flaminio, volevo che fosse un posto libero da orari e sveglie punitive. Non avrei mai immaginato che diventasse il teatro di scambi così profondi. Avere il privilegio di sedermi a chiacchierare la mattina con un Monaco Buddista e farmi spiegare come svuotare la mente semplicemente guardando un dettaglio della mia carta da parati, è una di quelle cose che porto ancora nel cuore.

Per me l'accoglienza è esattamente questa: io ti do un nido di pace e di pulizia, e in cambio ogni tanto tu mi regali un pezzetto del tuo mondo.

When I opened the breakfast area at Maison Flaminio, I wanted it to be a place free from strict schedules and punishing alarms. I never imagined it would become the stage for such profound exchanges.
