A bouquet filled with more than flowers - a South Tyrolean Ferragosto Tradition!🌿
Around 15 August, families in South Tyrol gather herbs, blossoms & ears of grain to create traditional herbal bouquets. During the celebration of the Assumption of Mary, these bouquets are brought to church and blessed.
Each plant is chosen for its healing properties or symbolic meaning. The blessed bouquet is often kept in the home throughout the year as a sign of protection, health and gratitude.
A beautiful tradition where faith, nature and knowledge passed down through generations come together.
