Affogato is een Italiaans ijsdessert, waarbij een bolletje vanille-ijs in een kopje wordt overgoten met hete espresso. Affogare betekent verdrinken in het Italiaans dus het bolletje ijs verdrinkt in de espresso.

Dit heerlijke drankje is (zogezegd) ontstaan in Freds Club in Londen wanneer een jonge dame vroeg naar een cocktail die haar kon wakker maken 😆
