⛪ San Matteo e le “due facce” di Salerno 🎭
Nel cuore della splendida cripta del Duomo di Salerno si trova una delle rappresentazioni più curiose del Santo Patrono: la statua bronzea di San Matteo, opera di Michelangelo Naccherino. 🙏✨ Due figure poste schiena contro schiena rendono il Santo “bifronte”: un simbolo delle sue due vite, prima pubblicano e poi apostolo, ma anche della dimensione terrena e di quella spirituale.La tradizione popolare salernitana, però, ne ha dato un’interpretazione più ironica! 😄 Da qui nasce il detto: “I Salernitani hanno due facce come San Matteo”. 🎭 Una doppiezza che può essere letta come capacità di mostrare un volto accogliente, generoso e disponibile, ma anche uno astuto, sagace e determinato. 💙E un altro proverbio rincara la dose: “I Salernitani ingannano il diavolo”. 😈 Due facce o semplicemente l’arte di sapersi adattare? Voi cosa ne pensate? 🤔
In the heart of the magnificent crypt of Salerno Cathedral stands one of the most fascinating representations of the city’s Patron Saint: the bronze statue of St. Matthew, created by Michelangelo Naccherino. 🙏✨ Two figures placed back-to-back make the Saint “two-faced”: a symbol of his two lives, first as a tax collector and then as an Apostle, but also of the earthly and spiritual dimensions.However, Salerno’s popular tradition has given it a more ironic interpretation! 😄 This is where the saying “The people of Salerno have two faces, just like St. Matthew” comes from. 🎭 This duality can be seen as the ability to show a welcoming, generous and helpful side, but also a clever, shrewd and determined one. 💙And another local saying goes even further: “The people of Salerno can outsmart the devil.” 😈 Two faces, or simply the art of knowing how to adapt?
