Every August 16th, Siena stops. It has for almost 400 years. 🐎
The night before the race, each contrada fills its own streets with the “prova generale” dinner: long tables running down the alleys, singing, the jockey presented to his people. It’s not a show for tourists — it’s Siena telling its own story to itself.
