Good morning! If this is your first time in Siena, let me tell you right away that we don’t rush things here. As soon as you arrive in the city center, Piazza del Campo will take your breath away: take a few minutes—maybe just for a coffee—to enjoy the view of the Torre del Mangia.
Then there’s the Duomo: it’s worth going inside and taking your time to explore it at a leisurely pace. And if you’re up for a bit of a climb, the view from the top of the Facciatone is truly magnificent.
If you’d like to get out of the city, Chianti is right there nearby: rolling hills, vineyards, cypress trees, and wineries where you can savor a good glass of wine without rushing.
When it comes to food around here, the best things are often the simplest: a plate of pici, some pecorino cheese, a warm crostino.
And if you’d like to visit a nearby village, you won’t have to go far: there’s Monteriggioni, and then San Gimignano—the medieval “Manhattan” with its towers, as if that weren’t enough.
If you have a full day, the Val d’Orcia is a treat you should treat yourself to. What will you find? We don’t want to spoil the surprise, but here’s a little preview: dirt roads, cypress trees, light, and silence.
Here’s how we see it: Siena should be experienced without haste, with the calm and attention it deserves. We can’t wait to welcome you to Hotel La Colonna.
