Introducing Pliocene Igt Toscana.
This wine represents the emblem of Tenuta Larnianone viticulture. It is an expression of a specific terroir, rich in marine shell fossils from the Pliocene era which dates back to 5,3 million years.
This soil, submerged by the Mediterranean Sea has plenty of carbonate calcium from the fossils which increase the level of calcareous and give verticality to the wine delivering power and finesse at the same time.
Production is 2000 bottles: made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Sangiovese which change according to the qualitative level they reach every vintage.

As a result of this, we can still see the characteristic layered soils filled with prehistoric seashells and the fossilized exoskeletons which increases the concentration of calcium carbonate of the soil, helping to retain moisture during the dry season and assuring a good drainage for grape vines.

The new 2007 vintage of our Vin Santo is out with a brand new design dedicated to Ezio Morfini:
it ages for more than 10 years in caratelli ( small 50 litres barrels) and shows complex aromas of crushed hazelnuts, orange marmalade and honey.
