Positano: postcard-perfect, but not always travel-friendly!

This cliffside gem on the Amalfi Coast is undeniably stunning—with its pastel houses, steep alleys, and sparkling sea views. But before you book your stay, here are a few honest tips to make the most of your visit:

What you should know before going to Positano:
• Skip the overnight stay. Accommodation is often overpriced. Stay in Sorrento instead—more affordable, better connected, and just 30 minutes away.
• Mind the stairs. What looks like a seaside room might actually be high up in the hills with hundreds of steps to climb. Always check the exact location before booking.
• Getting around isn’t easy. Expect packed buses and ferries, especially in summer.
• Dine early. Many restaurants stop serving food by 9 or 10pm. Late-night bites? Not in Positano

Best way to visit?
– Small group or private boat tour from Sorrento. Spend the day on the sea, explore Positano and Amalfi or Capri, swim in hidden coves, and skip all the traffic.
– Scooter rental. Ride along the breathtaking coastal road at your own pace, with the freedom to stop wherever the view takes your breath away.
