Get to know Anna, the charming face that will welcome you upon your arrival at Villa Luma 💖

Anna is helpful and open, and on top of that she speaks perfect English. She's more than happy to tell you all about the best places to visit and to give you advice to make the most out of your stay - she really gives you insights in the little things you want to know.

Besides her kindness, Anna is super creative and passionate about flower arranging, takes magnificent photos, helps her husband in the restaurant Paradiso Sul Golfo in town and makes the most delicious Italian plum cake.

We are so happy and thankful we got to know her and that all of our guests are welcomed by her warm smile.

La cena, or the Italian dinner, doesn't start before 8 PM, but for a pre-cena bite or drink you can of course enjoy and aperitivo under the pergola overlooking the lake at Villa Luma before going into town to discover one of the cosy restaurants.

Italians also love to eat and divide their dinner into three courses: antipasti & primi piatti (first course), secondi piatti & contorni (main course) and dolci, cafe & digestivo (dessert, coffee and digestive).

Here you can see the beautiful Osteria Fuori Porta - one of our favourite hotspots to dine at nearby the guesthouse. It's a lovely osteria with great pastas, friendly people and homemade cooking by the lady of the house. Make sure you get a table on the nice terrace overlooking the lake! 🍷🍴

Even on a sunny Italian vacation, a cosy indoor spot is more than welcome. Because some days, you just want to find a cool place for an afternoon nap away from the heat. Or you don't feel like eating out and just want to drink a glass of wine on the couch.

Rome. The 'eternal city', also known as 'caput mundi'. ❤️

Normally it is teeming with tourists here. But right now you can discover this beautiful city in peace. There are no queues and the beautiful sights such as the Trevi fountain and Piazza di Spagna can now be photographed perfectly.

These are just two examples, but there is so much more! The smaller and lesser known spots are also gems and every piazza has its own beauty and charm. And we discover new places every time we visit, which keeps us falling in love with the city - again and again. 😍

In addition to all this beauty, there is of course also 'la cucina italiana'! Pastas and other dishes, all delicious, pure and preferably served in a traditional trattoria.

If you still have doubts, now is the time to enjoy Rome in peace! And after a day in the city, you can return to your own safe bubble at Villa Luma. Sounds like a plan?

During the summer months, you can explore the surroundings of the nearby Lago di Bracciano by ferry. Hop on and hop off for only 10 euros and discover the towns Trevignano, Bracciano and Anguillara.

In Trevignano and Anguillara, the ferry drops you off directly in the historical center. As the center of Bracciano is situated on top of a hill, this stop requires a snappy uphill walk of around 30 minutes after you hop off the ferry.

Did you know that Villa Luma features a refreshing pool? 🌊☀️

When you stay at our guesthouse, you can access the pool directly through the private garden and enjoy a cool dip or chill by the water while sunbathing, reading a book in the shade under the fig tree or drinking a classic apéro with your company.

Our pool is not heated, but under the hot Italian sun, cool water is more than welcome!

VISIT ROME — TESTACCIO 🍝🇮🇹

Testaccio is the perfect Roman neighbourhood to discover the authentic cuisine of the city. Although the tradition comes from a history of poverty which makes that a lot is based on pasta and intenstine meat, Testaccio is now also a place full of cosy and delicious restaurants where you can try much more than that.

One of our top recommendations is Volpetti Testaccio - Roma, a deli shop that's hard to leave without a bag full of yummy goods. Don't forget to pass by the Testaccio Market as well, a big contemporary building full of food stalls to discover.

Visiting Testaccio? Aside from the food scene, you can also visit the peaceful Campo Cestio graveyard, the Monte Testaccio hill and the Museum Centrale Montemartini.
