Not your usual supermarket.

Just a few minutes from Ca’ Rioba, you’ll find one of the most unique places in Venice: a grocery store inside a former cinema.

Look up — the original decorated ceilings are still there.

Perfect for everyday shopping, quick meals, and a glimpse of hidden Venice.

Saved in my Venice map (link in bio).

In Venice, you don’t always need to look for beauty.
Sometimes it simply appears.

And the colors don’t even look real.

⚓️ Just a short walk through Venice and suddenly you find yourself in front of one of the most powerful places in the history of the city: the Arsenale.
For centuries this was the beating heart of the Venetian Republic.
Behind these walls thousands of craftsmen built the ships that allowed Venice to dominate the Adriatic and sail across the Mediterranean.
The Arsenale was so efficient that a war galley could be assembled in a single day.
Many historians say that the first real assembly line in the world was born right here.
Today the monumental gate, watched by its stone lions, reminds us of the extraordinary maritime power of the Serenissima.
Walking past the Arsenale means crossing one of the places where the history of Venice quite literally took shape.
Have you ever stopped here while exploring Venice?

In Venice, something magical happens.

You walk along quiet walls, turn a corner…
and suddenly the city opens in front of you.

A hidden canal.
A wide lagoon view.
A quiet moment that takes your breath away.

This is the Venice we love.

Today Venice counts around 400 bridges connecting the islands of the lagoon — some say 391, others up to 446 depending on how they are measured.
The first bridges in Venice were very simple. At the beginning they were nothing more than wooden planks laid from one side of a canal to the other. Over time they became stronger wooden structures, until many of them were eventually rebuilt in stone, giving Venice the elegant bridges we see today.
For centuries, however, Rialto remained the only bridge crossing the Grand Canal. Anyone who needed to cross the canal far from Rialto had to take a traghetto gondola, a simple gondola ferry that carried passengers from one bank to the other for a small coin.
Only in the 19th century, when Venice was connected to the mainland by railway, were two more bridges built across the Grand Canal to improve pedestrian movement: Ponte degli Scalzi, near the railway station, and Ponte dell’Accademia, close to the famous art galleries.
Today walking through Venice still means crossing bridge after bridge — discovering the city step by step.
Have you noticed how every bridge reveals a different view of Venice?

In Venice, even the smallest details tell a story.
Look closely at this door: it’s slightly tilted. Nothing here is perfectly straight, and that’s part of the charm. Venice is built on water, and the city is never completely still. Over time, buildings adapt, settle, and gently move with the lagoon.
Everything here is a little flexible — a city that has learned how to live with the water for centuries.
Next time you walk through Venice, look carefully around you… you might find this door.

Rialto Bridge is the heart of Venice.
For centuries it has connected the two sides of the Grand Canal and it remains one of the most iconic places in the city. Boats passing underneath, people crossing from one side to the other, and Venice unfolding all around.
If it’s your first time in Venice, this is a place you simply can’t miss.
Tip: come early in the morning if you want to see Rialto at its most peaceful.
Have you ever crossed the Rialto Bridge?

Venice after dark feels like another city.
Quiet canals, soft lights, and the sound of water in the fog.
A simple night walk can become the most magical moment of the day.
Don’t miss it.

What is a Venetian cicchetto?
The word comes from Latin and means “a small quantity.” But in Venice, it means much more. A cicchetto is the perfect companion to a glass of local wine — a small bite, simple or refined, enjoyed standing at the counter of a bacaro. Traditionally, they were humble:
polenta with baccalà, boiled egg, sarde in saor. Today, many bacari reinterpret them — seasonal vegetables, fresh seafood, creative combinations. Small, beautiful, delicious.
It’s not just food.
It’s a ritual.
If you stay in Cannaregio, you’ll find some of the most authentic ones just steps away.
A small taste of Venice, before you leave.

I have been standing in Campo dei Mori for centuries, watching Venice change, step by step. This image is not just a logo. It’s a detail of who I am. Just few steps from where I stand, there is a small apartment where travelers can still experience the quiet, authentic Venice.
