The building, located facing the “Canale di Cannaregio in Riva Savorgnan”, belonged to Venetian nobles Bonfadini from the seventeenth century and went to a very rich Jewish family, Vivante. At the sober architectural structure, it encloses in its interior a magnificent decorative set. Between 1811 and 1815, the most important decorators of the neoclassical Venetian season are called to embellish the interiors, in partnership with high quality stucco masters.
Palazzo Bonfadini Vivante contains some authentic, precious painting cycles belonging to the Venetian figurative arts; since the XVIII century, several Tiepolesque painters have been following one another with artworks of pictorial magnificence. One may say that Palazzo Bonfadini indoors encloses, in their variety and dimension, the swansong of the Venetian fresco tradition.
