There are evenings when the lagoon lights up, façades breathe with light, and masks dance on the surface of the water. The crowd looks up. Mouths slightly open.

Those same evenings, then, from the Arsenale’s Great Basin, make their way back across San Marco Square, climb a marble staircase, enter a frescoed room and take your breath away among stucco and seemingly endless ceilings, where Casanova once danced too.

🇮🇹 Ci sono periodi dell’anno in cui Venezia sembra un teatro.

Ci sono serate in cui la laguna si accende, le facciate respirano luce, le maschere danzano sulla superficie dell’acqua. La folla guarda in su. A bocca aperta.

Quelle stesse serate, poi, dalla Darsena Grande dell’Arsenale, attraversano a ritroso piazza San Marco, salgono una scala di marmo, entrano in una stanza affrescata e fanno smarrire il fiato tra gli stucchi e i soffitti a perdita d’occhio, dove anche Casanova danzava.
