For many, Venice begins here.

Stepping out of Santa Lucia, with the Grand Canal unfolding before you and San Simeon Piccolo rising across the water, there is that brief moment of astonishment — when arrival feels almost ceremonial.

In the late afternoon light, its green dome gathers the warmth of the sun, while boats pass slowly below, carrying the quiet rhythm of the city.

Uscendo da Santa Lucia, con il Canal Grande che si apre davanti e San Simeon Piccolo che si alza sull’acqua, c’è quel breve istante di meraviglia in cui l’arrivo sembra quasi un rito.

For one morning, Venice moves to the rhythm of oars.

During the Vogalonga, the lagoon fills with thousands of rowers, traditional boats and a shared spirit of care for the water. Born in 1975 as a gesture of love for Venice and its fragile lagoon, it remains one of the city’s most heartfelt celebrations — less a regatta than a moving tribute to silence, endurance and belonging.

To watch the boats return through the Grand Canal, with the city applauding from the fondamenta, is to glimpse Venice in one of its truest expressions.

Durante la Vogalonga la laguna si riempie di imbarcazioni, di voga tradizionale e di un’energia collettiva che parla di cura per l’acqua. Nata nel 1975 come gesto d’amore per Venezia e per la sua laguna fragile, è ancora oggi una delle feste più sentite della città — più che una regata, un omaggio in movimento al silenzio, alla resistenza, all’appartenenza.

Vedere le barche rientrare lungo Canal Grande, mentre la città le accompagna dalle fondamenta, è uno di quei momenti in cui Venezia si rivela in modo autentico.

The Festa della Sensa brings back one of the city’s oldest rituals: the symbolic marriage between Venice and the Adriatic, renewed with the casting of a golden ring into the water.

It is a celebration shaped by history, devotion and the deep bond between Venice and the lagoon — a tradition that still feels alive today.

If you’ll be with us during these days, we warmly suggest making time to watch the water procession and experience this beautiful Venetian ritual firsthand. And if you’d like to know our favorite spots to see it, just ask us at reception — we’ll be happy to share where we would go.

Da quasi mille anni il Campanile si alza sopra la città come punto di orientamento — per i veneziani, per chi arriva, per chi ritorna.
