🇬🇧 Rain changes the pace of an afternoon in Venice. The streets grow quieter, the stone darkens, and returning to Bloom feels especially welcome.

In our sitting room, there is time for a book and a warm cup of tea or coffee while the rain passes beyond the window. The city will still be there when you are ready to go out again.

🇮🇹 La pioggia cambia il ritmo di un pomeriggio a Venezia. Le calli si fanno più tranquille, la pietra si scurisce e tornare da Bloom diventa ancora più piacevole.

Nel nostro salottino ci si può fermare con un libro e una tazza di tè o di caffè caldo, mentre fuori continua a piovere. Il rumore della pioggia sarà il tuo piacevole sottofondo.

🇬🇧 Planning a few things before arriving in Venice can leave more room for the unexpected once you are here.

If there is a museum or exhibition you would be sorry to miss, check its opening days and book ahead where needed. Reserve a table for a particular evening or a small-group experience you have your heart set on. If you expect to use the vaporetto often, look into the transport passes before you travel.

Leave some hours open, too. You may find a quiet campo, stay longer over lunch, or simply follow a street that catches your eye.

🇮🇹 Organizzare qualche dettaglio prima di arrivare a Venezia aiuta a vivere il resto del soggiorno con più libertà.

Se tenete a un museo o a una mostra, controllate giorni di apertura e modalità d’ingresso. Prenotate il ristorante per una serata speciale o un’esperienza con pochi posti. Se pensate di usare spesso il vaporetto, valutate in anticipo il titolo di viaggio più adatto.

Lasciate però qualche ora senza programma: per fermarvi in un campo tranquillo, allungare il pranzo o seguire una calle che vi incuriosisce.

🇬🇧 Four hours, one terrace, and yet, every few hours, it feels like a different view.

Light moves across the city, colours deepen, details disappear and new ones emerge, until Venice slowly gives way to the blue of evening.

Perhaps that is one of the pleasures of seeing the city from above: staying still long enough to watch it change.

But let’s say it: Venice is alwasy beautiful, no matter the time of the day you admire it!

🇮🇹 Quattro ore, una sola terrazza, eppure, nel giro di poche ore, sembra di guardare ogni volta un panorama diverso.

La luce attraversa la città, i colori cambiano intensità, alcuni dettagli scompaiono mentre altri emergono, fino a quando Venezia lascia lentamente spazio al blu della sera.

Anche se… diciamoci la verità, Venezia è bella a qualsiasi ora del giorno, specie da qui!

Ca’ d’Oro was conceived in the 15th century as one of the most refined residences on the Grand Canal.

Its name — the “Golden House” — recalls a detail that time has erased: parts of the façade were once enriched with gilding, colour and precious pigments, giving the Gothic marble an appearance very different from the one we know today.

Commissioned by the Venetian merchant Marino Contarini, the palazzo still carries the elegance of a city whose homes were designed to be admired from the water.

Today, behind its unmistakable façade, Ca’ d’Oro houses the Galleria Giorgio Franchetti — another chapter in the long life of this Venetian home.

Ca’ d’Oro nasce nel Quattrocento come una delle dimore più raffinate affacciate sul Canal Grande.

Il suo nome conserva la memoria di un dettaglio che il tempo ha cancellato: parti della facciata erano un tempo impreziosite da dorature, colori e pigmenti preziosi, che davano al marmo gotico un aspetto molto diverso da quello che conosciamo oggi.

Voluto dal mercante veneziano Marino Contarini, il palazzo racconta ancora l’eleganza di una città in cui le dimore erano pensate anche per essere ammirate dall’acqua.
