21 Novembre: festa della Madonna della Salute. Nel 1630 il doge fece voto di erigere una chiesa intitolata alla Salute, chiedendo l'intercessione della Vergine Maria per porre fine alla pestilenza. Poche settimane dopo, l'epidemia subì prima un brusco rallentamento per poi lentamente regredire fino a estinguersi definitivamente nel novembre 1631. Oggi migliaia di persone percorrono il ponte votivo sul Canal Grande e vanno in pellegrinaggio alla chiesa della Salute a rendere omaggio alla Madonna e ad accendere un cero affinché interceda per la loro salute.
Una autentica festa veneziana!

Madonna della Salute: 21st November is the day of the Feast of the Presentation of the Virgin! This is one of the most important feast days in the Venetian calendar: an authentic venetian festival! Feast’s origins are in the great plague of 1630. Doge Nicolò Contarini asked for the Virgin Mary’s divine intervention for the beleaguered city by erecting a church in her honour. Today thousands of locals reach the Church, streaming in a procession across the Grand Canal on a temporary, floating, votive bridge, give thanks and pray to the Virgin Mary for good health.
