🇬🇧 Secluded in the middle of the sestiere of San Marco, the palazzo's crowning feature is the large interior flight of winding stairs that spirals up into the sky, named the Scala Contarini del Bovolo. “Del Bovolo” translates to “of the snail” in the Venetian dialect, referring to the spiral shape of the staircase.

🇬🇧 The “Festa del Redentore” is one of Venice’s most traditional celebrations, held mainly on the island of Giudecca. It takes place on the third Sunday of July every year to commemorate the end of the plague epidemic of 1575-1577.

How to experience it like a true local?
Of course, with a traditional dinner on a boat. Just make sure to book well in advance, as reservations sell out quickly!

The programme
Saturday, 18 July - Opening of the votive bridge, dinner on a boat, festive atmosphere, and fireworks over the St. Mark’s Basin (approximately 11:30 PM).

Sunday, 19 July - Boat parades, rowing regattas along the Giudecca Canal, and the votive Mass at the Church of the Most Holy Redeemer on Giudecca Island.

🇮🇹 La Festa del Redentore è una festa tradizionale di Venezia che si tiene principalmente nell’isola della Giudecca. Viene celebrata la terza domenica di luglio di ogni anno per ricordare la fine dell’epidemia di peste del 1575-1577.

Ovviamente con una cena tipica in barca. Ma mi raccomando, prenota con anticipo perché vanno a ruba!

Sabato 18 luglio - apertura del ponte votivo, cena in barca, atmosfera festiva e fuochi d’artificio sul Bacino di San Marco (inizio indicativo ore 23:30)
Domenica 19 luglio - sfilate in barca, regate sul Canale della Giudecca e messa votiva nella Chiesa del Redentore sull’isola della Giudecca

Are you looking for an unsual museum to visit? San Servolo Insane Asylum Museum will surprise you for sure!

⚠️ Know Before You Go
Number 20 boat stop San Servolo. Be aware that the museum is actually rather small, and most of the buildings are occupied by Venice University and a hotel. You'll need to visit the hotel's reception (opposite the ferry point) to buy a ticket to the museum. Unless you've booked onto a tour, they only open at 10:45 am and 2 pm.
