Stamattina siamo in Campo dell’Erbaria a . Davanti a noi c’è un piccolo edificio che batte ogni record: San Giacometto. 🏛️

La tradizione vuole che sia stata consacrata il 25 marzo del 421 d.C. Esattamente il giorno (leggendario) della fondazione di Venezia. È il cuore pulsante della storia lagunare.

Situata nel mercato di Rialto, non serviva solo ai fedeli, ma ai mercanti. L’iscrizione sull’abside avvisa i commercianti di essere onesti nei pesi e nelle misure. Business ed etica, anno 1100. ⚖️

Alzate lo sguardo: l’enorme orologio esterno ha un quadrante diviso in 24 ore e una sola lancetta. Un capolavoro di ingegneria che ha scandito i tempi del commercio mondiale per secoli. 🕰️
