Friendly Lodge 239 had an awesome night with 41 members and 27 visitors joining us for a fantastic Initiation ceremony. Huge congrats to Sammar Reid on taking his long-awaited first step. Welcome aboard!

The festive board afterwards was buzzing with energy, thanks to the many young members and guests who brought great vibes. The Loyal Toasts were given with heart, setting a warm and meaningful tone for the night.

And let’s not forget the benevolence raffle... it raised a fantastic amount and kept everyone excited. Congrats to the winners! Big thanks to the Master and the hardworking team upstairs, plus the Stewards, acting Stewards, and Junior Warden downstairs, for making everything run so smoothly.

Friendly Lodge 239 is definitely flying high... here’s to many more great nights like this!

On Thursday, May 14, 2026, the brethren of Hamilton Lodge gathered for a distinguished and memorable occasion, the Installation of Andre Gordon as Master. The ceremony was marked by dignity, fellowship and a strong display of Masonic unity, reflecting the rich traditions and enduring values of the Craft.

The event was further elevated by the attendance of members of the District Grand Lodge of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, led by District Grand Master, Thomas Smith. Also present was Past District Grand, Master Walter Scott, alongside several distinguished brethren from across the jurisdiction. Their presence underscored the importance of the occasion and demonstrated the strong fraternal bonds shared throughout the District.

The Banquet Hall provided a truly regal setting for the evening’s celebrations. Elegantly decorated with rich colours, tasteful floral arrangements, and refined table settings, the hall radiated warmth, sophistication, and Masonic pride. The atmosphere combined tradition with celebration, creating a fitting backdrop for such a significant milestone in the Lodge’s history.

The banquet which followed was exceptionally well attended, with brethren from sister lodges joining in fellowship alongside the wives, family members, and friends of the brethren of Hamilton Lodge. The evening was filled with camaraderie, heartfelt congratulations, and shared joy as attendees celebrated not only the installation of a new Master, but also the continued strength and unity of the Lodge and the wider Masonic family.

The Installation of Worshipful Master Andre Gordon will undoubtedly be remembered as a proud and successful occasion in the history of Hamilton Lodge.

Tribute to VW. Bro. the Hon. Dennis Hugh Lalor, OJ, ACII.

With profound respect, we pay tribute to VW. Bro. the Hon. Dennis Hugh Lalor, OJ, ACII, a Caribbean giant whose life embodied dedication, integrity, and service. For 69 years since joining Phoenix Lodge in 1957, Dennis was more than a distinguished Freemason, he was a pillar of strength and inspiration. As a Founder of the Cayman Lodge and Kingston College Lodge, his visionary leadership expanded Freemasonry locally and overseas, fostering unity, brotherhood, and progress.

He was the driving force behind establishing Barbados Avenue as the District Grand Lodge headquarters and chaired the publication of the historic volumes, 'Masonic Jamaica and the Cayman Islands'. His life, marked by service and honour, earned deep respect across public and private spheres, leaving an indelible mark on Jamaican society.

Beyond Freemasonry, Dennis’ achievements were vast. A former jockey at Knutsford Park, he helped establish a school for jockeys, many of whom were illiterate. As an avid polo player, he became President of both the Jamaica Polo Association and Kingston Polo Club, and was inducted into the Jamaica Hall of Fame of Thoroughbred Racing.

Dennis also chaired numerous boards, including the Betting, Gaming and Lotteries Commission, FMAJ, UWI Development and Endowment Fund, and the Casino Gaming Commission. He led the Air Jamaica Privatisation Committee and served as President of the PSOJ from 1990 to 1992.

As we mourn his loss, we celebrate a life that illuminated the path for others and elevated Freemasonry in our region. His legacy inspires excellence, compassion, and dedication in all who follow.

May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may we carry forward the torch of his noble spirit with unwavering fervour.
